The $800,000.00 Fire Boat!

Now DON'T tell me the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief aren't asking for a $800,000.00 Fire Boat!

YOU Firemen should take a good hard look at what they have put into the Budget while lying to ALL of you!

This makes me sick to my stomach! You know what Taxpayers, you get what you voted for, a bunch of liars! The evidence doesn't lie!

Why stop there, maybe if they happen to find a few more million laying around in the budget they can look into getting the Chief a Fire Dept. submarine to get around the bridge when it is up.

The three amegos will take this city for every expensive toy in the book if allowed. They have spent almost every penny that the three stations had and are hammering the taxpayers daily.

They do not need a fireboat. They currently have a smaller boat that does what they need. This is the kind of frivilous spending that is not prudent in todays economy. Stick to the basics that you need on the ground and not the water.

This issue started when Gordo heard about several boats, such as the one pictured in the area. They were purchased with Federal assistance in ports such as Baltimore. Well,he just had to have a toy like this. TOYS FOR BIG BOYS. Thats his motto and the games began. If you don't keep an eye on him and Bubba this boat will be parked in the harbor.

i bet that sharptown, hebron, fruitland and westside don't have that much invested in all of their boats combined. bet if the city had to raise their money like all the other fire companies do (by donations and other means) you won't see an over priced building and other toys. as one firefighter once told me " you put the wet stuff on the hot stuff.the fire doesn't care what the trucks look like"

But I ask you: What if a rich person's riverfront home catches fire? How will they put that out? Don't the rich people deserve proper fire protection? Just because you losers can't afford a riverfront house, doesn't mean there shouldn't be fire protection for those who can afford one!

Ask them what is the need....... now many homes/business's are on the water, how often has the call for service been. OOOOOOOOK, now they may say they have the oil tanks, and frieghters, DON"T FALL FOR THAT, that boat even at 800,000won't touch that kind of fire! This is a gross waste of money, as was the 10,000,000 station! The new engines and truck would have been prudent IF they didn't piss it away on the aformentioned, BUT another "hole" would be a fire boat. btw, fiqure another $50,000 to $100,000 per year to keep it. Thats right, depreciation, insurance, main.,fuel etc. Oh, I was assigned to the largest fireboat in the FDNY, I do know what I am talkig about.

there's an auction site for navy submarines that cost $75,000 which is very affordable ;)

Anon 1:17--Rich people on the river don't enter and exit their houses every day by boat. They have these things called STREETS that run by the house so that they can get mail delivered, etc. Our "loser" tax dollars shouldn't have to pay for EXTRA fire protection for them. If you and other riverfront rich people (and I have many good friends who live on the river) want an expensive fireboat, get together and buy it and donate it to the SFD!

This subject brings to mind a lawsuit against a current slumlord that used to be in the fire protection business. Or should I say he thought he was in the fire protection business until a failure broke his broke back mountain.

See and Gordy are going to have a blast on that boat while Joe is sitting back wishing he could afford one cause he damn sure won't be invited unless of coarse they decide to use him as a anchor.

How many times in the last 25 years has Salisbury needed a fire boat on the river? This should give your answer if there is a need for such a purchase. Did the fire boat pump water in 1979 when Benjemins burned? Thats the last fire close to the river I can think of.

Anonymous said...

Salisbury don't need three ladder trucks or a fire boat.

Anonymous said...

the 3 of them should be charged with a felonie theft scheme, seriously!!!! This shats gotta stop, they need their rumps seared and run outa town!

City taxpayers are suckers! You don't stand up at the meetings and tell Barrie to her face your dissatisfaction. Shame on you, City taxpayers--no balls!

These boats are bought with federal grant assistance. The only way it would ever happen is with a coordinated effort between the county and the city. Even then, the priority is scaled against other cities. It would probably cost 10% of the purchase price for the city to maintain annually...don't hold your breath it will happen.

So it's ok to federal tax dollars for a boat Salisbury don't need? I don't care who buys it Salisbry don't need a fire boat.
