For The Record

If you look at the bottom of the center of this photo you'll see the gap between my building to the right and my neighbor to the left. It's only a matter of time before their building will be resting support wise on my building, if you'll look at the top where the gap is only an inch or two away. I wonder how that will work down the road? Any Engineers out there want to throw in their two cents?

Are you sure it hasn't always been that way? Could it be that the problem is with your building?

You've got to love work done by the lowest bidder.

Eventually, the forces pulling this building to the right will be transferred to your building. What will happen remains to be seen - depends on how much your building can handle.

Make sure that you send a certified letter to the building owner asking them to address the situation, "just in case" you need some documentation later.

Once the building touches yours, it might be a good laugh asking the building owner to "move" their property so that you can wash down your bricks. You might also want to charge them air rights for intruding on your property line.

the gound is starting to give way after resting two foundations in one area. after 40+ years and the buildings being so close to the river its a matter of time that the buildings would begin to sink. Salisbury has sandy soil which requires wider spread footings. if you lay a six foot level on the sidewalk with gap in the center of the level then you will see the sidewalk is not level as well.

Move to Baltimore City if you don't like it here.

This is a good point. As a surveyor, I would say there is probably some encroachment going on. Do you have a plat that could verify this? If you need one, let me know, always looking for more work. LOL!

Joe,I have studied the picture and I even drove down to put a plumb bob on the buildings. The problem is with your building. Please move it right now, or I will call the Mare. Don't you know the whole darn country is leaning to the left?

Your building is too strong. If it were weaker, it would also lean to the right and everything would work out ok.

OMG, Joe's building is in trouble. Call the mayor...no, that won't work. Wait, call the police and fire company...no, that won't work either. Maybe TJ can file a lawsuit for you...nope, that will never happen either.
Hell, you're out of people that can help you out of this very serious situation.

Anon 402 are you nuts or what? If he needed police protection he would call Sheriff Mike Lewis. If he needed legal advise he'd call his Annapolis lawyers or maybe his OC lawyers. If he needed a fire company...hmmm you might have a point there, UNLESS it's after 4pm and See, Gordy and Hoppes have gone home.

Isn't that building where the Opportunity Shop owned by Asbury church is located? Maybe you should contact them.
