If you didn't get the chance to watch PAC 14 last night, at the very end I got up there and asked the Council Vice President, Gary Comegys, if he in fact parked in a Handicap Zone over this past weekend? He replied, "NO."
Ladies & Gentlemen, this is a flat out lie. I tried asking my question a couple of different ways to make sure he clearly understood me and he completely denied his doing so.
That being said, AFTER the meeting ended I flat out walked up to the Council Table and said, you know Gary, I have at least two Police Officers that would testify that you had in fact parked in a Handicap Zone and they had to come find you to make you move your vehicle. He said, "I was only there 10 minutes." He then said that once an Officer asked him to move, he relocated his vehicle.
Well, at that point even Louise Smith looked over, (she was sitting right there) and had that "I can't believe you just lied" look on her face. Gary went on to explain how Michael Day had called him for some help and he drove up there to the Flea Market and "I was only there 10 minutes" came out again. The Officers learned it was Councilman Comegys vehicle and they searched him out because they were absolutely going to tow the vehicles parked in that Handicap Zone. The Officers also allegedly told him they were going to tow his vehicle if he didn't move it.
After the meeting we had all gone downstairs the the parking lot at the GOB. I was talking to Louise about it and she admitted she was very disappointed in what she had just sen and heard.
Ladies & Gentlemen, The Vice President of the City Council LIED to everyone there and everyone watching PAC 14. He admitted it after the meeting was over but never said he was sorry and in fact still tried to deny it in his own way.
After I asked him the question and he LIED, he sat back in his chair and mumbled, I was on the curb. OK Gary, no matter what was asked, you know as well as I, (and now the rest of the world) that you were in fact parked, "at the curb" in a Handicap Zone. I even mentioned it being a loading and unloading area, the Police had to SEARCH YOU OUT at the Flea Market and CONFRONT YOU to get you to move your vehicle.
In fact, there was a Handicap Person on a Bus trying to unload off the Bus AT THE CURB where there is a Handicap Zone. For a Council Vice President to sit there and flat out lie, (knowing where I was going with my question) will simple show the people that YOU are NOT at all trustworthy and that you will in fact lie or twist things to get out of looking bad or whatever reason you chose to not tell the truth.
Remember this when this guy goes to run for Mayor. Mr. Comegys needs to hold a Press Conference and admit that he lied to the Public and come clean. I will simply end with this. Several Police Officers watched PAC 14 last night and have already expressed their disbelief in what they saw.
I wouldn't trust this man as far as I could throw him.
I did not have an inappropriate relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Remember that Folks? That's when Clinton too got on public TV and made that statement. Maybe that's what makes it OK for Comegys?

Are you surprised he lied? He lied to his creditors when he promised to pay his debts then filed bankruptcy to avoid paying his debts.
He lied when he failed to take responsibility for supporting his own son, his own flesh and blood. When he was hauled into court for failure to support this very same child.
Now he lies, ON RECORD, about something as small and minor as where he was parked.

Let's talk about this for a minute. Shanie Shields TRUSTS the Department Heads, there's no need to line item or micro manage their budget. Yet the Council VP lied.
What will it take for Shanie to realize she's in bed with liars? Even the County Council and Executive came to realize several people as Department Heads and their employees will flat out lie, hence the Ray Lewis situation.
The bottom line is, WHO CAN YOU TRUST? Even a Judge made a harsh statement against the Chief of Police at the Rachel Polk Trial.
This Tilghman Administration and anyone who supports them needs to go. Remember that in November Folks.

Those two police officers will pay hell now. I'm sure Gary is on the phone with Jack n Coke giving him his marching orders.

Besides, it was all over the radio that day. Every Officer who should be listening to it heard it.
He should make a public apology for lying. You asked him a very specifice question requiring a "yes" or "no" answer. He gave the answer "no". I saw it, you saw it, and everyone who was watching PAC 14 saw it. There is absolutely no way he can deny that. He stated shortly afterward that he was only there for 10 minutes, right? By his own statement, he lied. If he lied about something as small as parking in a handicapped spot, just think about how he would lie if involved in a scam of greater magnitude. Politicians such as he are the reason this nation is as screwed up as it is. It's not too late. Elections are around the corner. We can still turn this around.

I was watching PAC 14 last evening and could not believe that Comegy's said he was not parked in a Handicapped Zone. Pretty amazing that he would say that on public TV knowing that he was being recorded and watched by many people. And he thinks he can be the next Mayor? Forget it. He wont have my vote!
I can see it now - Michael (Dumbo) Day putting up "Bubba fur Mare" signs all over town next spring, just like he did for Barrie in 2002and 2005.

Did he not lie about "growth pays for growth" too? But, then, maybe he gets some pay out of it that we don't know about.
just like the others said....if he's willing to lie under audio/video, about something this small....can you even imagine what he'd be willing to lie about? It's no wonder he goes out of his way to vote against ANYTHING that supports open government!!!
If I lived in city limits ...I'd run with this ball...surely there's something in the charters to imediatly rid a council member for purposeful,willingly and openly being dishonest about breaking the LAW. Somebody should push this envelope...if we could get rid of him we could get back to rightful and honest voting on the council and start turning this mess around...every month he's there...it may take a year to undo the damage he's caused. Not to mention if he's stupid enough {and he is} to try and run for mayor...thats just more votes he'll screw up for a real mayor...everyone needs to know this...the sooner the better!!!

Yes, the man is a lier of the first magnitude. What is interesting to me is "Why did Day need old Bubba at the sale parking area?" Might be worth finding out why Day had to have our Councils VP there so suddenly? If there was a problem with a displayer or someone buying, why didn't Day call the police? Sorry, but this kinda smells to me!

If the council president actually heard another council person knowingly lying, it should be her responsibility to write some kind of corrective action for not only lying, but right there live on TV and to every citizen in this city.

How ridiculous! "I didn't park in a handicapped space, and when I did, I was only there a few minutes." This is insulting to the citizens of Salisbury. When you think there are no consequences for being a liar, why tell the truth?
