Bond Set For Ray Lewis At $250,000.00

Bond was set by the Circuit Court for Ray Lewis at $250,000.00.

The 250K on Lewis will insure that Wicomico County has the resources along with the United States Marshall’s Service to track him down and bring him back for trial from wherever he might try to go, in the entire world. That is, IF he chose to run!

That's all good, but 10% of that is only $25,000.00, that's like nothing compared to the amount they are accusing him of stealing. With his kind of income that's a smack in the hand, it really tells us that when he goes to court and excepts a deal, he will get time served, (1 day) and pay restitution. First time offender, and member of the Good OLE Boy Society!
He's got no reason to run, he is and will be well protected by the members of his Society.

I'm disappointed the bail should equal the $1 million in pilfered taxpayer's inventory.

Not just for him, everyone involved should be punished with more than a fine and time served.

I wouldn't know Ray if I fell over him. I'm talking about all those involved. FBI should be keeping a close eye on bank accounts and other money shuffling.

Look, those who know me know that I am no fan of a criminal. I am also no fan of Ray Lewis and personally believe he is a lying thief with absolutely no business ethics. I also think he should be convicted and sentenced to a substantial amount of PRISON time. But we all have to understand that his bond has nothing to do with any sentence which may be imposed. It is simply an amount of money or collateral he must put up to convince the court he will show up for trial when required. The amount is based on the seriousness of the crime, the potential sentence if convicted, any past criminal history, location of residence (out of state defendants are almost always required to put up a fairly significant bond), any history of FTA's (failure to appear), ties to the community, any danger posed to the community, etc.

If he puts up 10% to a bailbondsman and then FTA's, those bail bondsmen will hunt him down like a dog......and they don't play by the same rules as the police. I would much rather be apprehended by law enforcement than bail bondsmen.

robin, say it again, say it louder. my sentiments EXACTLY. i raised this issue on here before, and was criticized harshly for even the suggestion that anyone else could have been involved. the fact that others were involved doesn't make ray less guilty. and am i to believe, or anyone else with just half a brain, that Ray just waltzed into the landfill, and took what he wanted, and there was NO ONE ELSE who assisted? the thieves had a plan for all they did. The landfill makes LOADS of money for the county. think, people. think. way to go, robin. somebody is thinking.

He won't post one dime. He'll put up a property bond using one of his many rental properties. The others will do the same. No money will ever be seen by the county.

As far as sentencing goes, they should be held liable for all costs incurred by the county to include, losses, forensic auditors, court costs, investigative costs, etc. MAKE THEM ALL PAY AND PAY DEARLY.

Send a message throughout the county that this will not be tolerated by anyone, anywhere in any position.
