Mayor Ireton Removes Himself From Council Work Session After Being Abusive To Council Once Again

This time the Council was NOT going to take Mayor Ireton's verbal abuse and called him out on it.

Mayor Ireton was not happy with the answers he was receiving on the old Fire Station 16 and demanded answers right then and there. Council President Terry Cohen tried to explain they could not provide answers to his question as they had just sat through almost 2 hours with the Salisbury/Wicomico County Director of Economic & Development to help guide them in the right direction. Mrs. Cohen went on to say that she had responded in a letter just recently explaining to Mayor Ireton they could not answer his question until they spoke with Mr. Ryan and discussed it more as a Council.

Mayor Ireton aggressively shouted, "WELL, THAT WAS A LONG WINDED ANSWER"! "YES OR NO"?

Council President immediately called the Work Session into recess but not before mentioning Mayor Ireton was a GUEST to these proceedings. Mayor Ireton tried to go after Mrs. Cohen again but she just stood up and walked away.

Mayor Ireton then leaned over to the Daily Times Reporter, not once, but twice and said, "I hope you got all that".

Mayor Ireton then leaned over to Mr. Spies and started challenging his position and Mr. Spies told Mayor Ireton he was out of line and his statements were uncalled for. After some heated debate Mayor Ireton turned towards me and said, I saw you leaning over to listen in, I hope you got all that. I replied, not only did I get it all Jim, I wrote it all down. As he stood up in anger and started walking out of the room he started yelling from the hall and into the office next door, GOOD, THIS TIME I WON'T HAVE TO READ ALL THAT SHIT ON YOUR BLOG AND MAYBE YOU'LL GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME. I immediately responded, you need to watch your mouth in front of these Ladies Jim. He responded, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO ME IN THIS BUILDING JOE!

Clearly the Mayor is upset because we're not only providing the TRUTH about a petition drive that failed, Mayor Ireton is VERY upset that we've called him out in private meetings with former Mayor Barrie Tilghman, former Council President Mike Dunn and several other new Dirty Dozen has been's.



Mayor Ireton then walked into a private meeting with the "Play Nice" Daily Times and clearly another meeting with the "Play Nice" WMDT.

Mayor Ireton, the people have spoken. They, (in masses) are NOT happy with your performance, or shall I say the lack thereof. You're a photo op Mayor who has accomplished next to nothing. You want to play ball, let's play ball because Joe Albero does NOT play nice. I'm NOT going to spread your stupid BS special feel good agenda items and paint you as the Little Boy Blue you expect the rest of the "Play Nice" media to do.

We, (Salisbury News) will drive you out of Office and prove you to be a one term, (if you make it that far) Mayor. I firmly believe ALL citizens will take you to task every time you treat women poorly. Your days are now numbered Mayor Ireton and every one will see you for who you are, a school teacher bully who is immature and needs to grow up and act like a man for once.

I'll close with this. Shanie Shields tried to defend the Mayor on the Station 16 issues by saying the building has not sat vacant for 60 days. We need to do something now with that building, she said. HELLO! The building has sat empty for more than 4 years under your time on Council Shanie Shields. Stop acting like and Idiot and learn to be quiet before putting your foot in your mouth.

Hagans also served as assistant vice president for Asset Management and Treasury Operations at Howard University and served on the Prince George’s County Police and Fire Service Pension Plans Board of Trustees and the Prince George’s County Risk Management Committee.

MATHEMATICAL CERTAINTY

The Republican co-chairman of the bipartisan deficit panel said Sunday that the members’ inability to strike a deal is a “huge missed opportunity,” while refusing to say definitively that the committee had failed.

Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, and Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., another member of the so-called Super Committee, both said on “Fox News Sunday” that members are not giving up on striking some semblance of an agreement before a Wednesday deadline.

“There’s still time on the clock,” Becerra said.

But the committee has a matter of hours to submit a plan in order to give congressional budget scorekeepers enough time to review it. The de facto deadline could be as early as Sunday night. While Hensarling said lawmakers are “not going to give up hope” and continuing to talk, he did not dispute suggestions that the committee was headed for failure.

I really wish people would stop talking about “success” like it would actually be success, because it’s not.

NARRATIVE:
On August 18, 2011 a Deputy of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office took an
initial report of a Burglary and Theft from a remotely located hunting camp
located on the Beaver Dam Creek, Berlin, Worcester County, Maryland. Reported
stolen was a 12’ fiberglass boat, electric trolling motor & battery, pair of
chest waders, battery charger, set of deer antlers, Duck mount, Black Bear skin
and several bottles of alcohol.

On Friday, November 18, 2011 a lead developed in the investigation and
ultimately resulted in two (2) juveniles being identified. The case was worked
until the early morning hours of Saturday, November 19, 2011 and resulted in the
recovery of the set of deer antlers, Duck mount and Black Bear skin. The through
the course of interviews the location of the remainder of the stolen property
was identified.

On Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:15am the 12’ fiberglass boat, electric
trolling motor & battery were recovered with the assistance of the Maryland
Natural Resource Police. Later that afternoon the pair of chest waders and
battery charger was recovered. All the stolen property initially reported stolen
with the exception of the alcohol has been returned to the owner.

The two (2) juveniles involved in this crime have been charged and released to
their parents. The charging documents will be forwarded to Juvenile Justice for
processing and disposition at a future date.

Salisbury Police Department Press Releases 11-21-11

On November 18, 2011 at approximately 9:56 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department were dispatched to a residence on the three hundred (300) block of Penn Street for the report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival the officers met with an adult female victim who advised that she had become involved in a domestic type argument with a family member. With time fast running out for the so-called deficit supercommittee, the mammoth amount of government money spent on the military has become a prime target in Washington. But the main focus isn't on big-ticket weapons projects or expensive wars—it's on retirement benefits for the roughly 17 percent of soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen who have served 20 years or more in uniform. Currently the total cost of their benefits is about $50 billion a year.

Cuts to military pensions are "the kind of thing you have to consider," Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in September. When President Obama unveiled his $3 trillion debt-reduction plan the same month, it called GIs' benefits "out of line" with private employee retirement plans, saying the system was "designed for a different era of work." When Congress held a hearing on military retirements in October, Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) promoted a cheaper 401(k)-style plan that would slash existing benefits for many troops. "I see nothing wrong with them being able to choose a different retirement plan," he said.

Rain Causes Parts Of Paseo Del Mar To Shift Loose, Fall

SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KTLA) -- San Pedro residents are expecting a sinkhole along a popular road to get even bigger after chunks fell off during a storm on Sunday.

Officials say the landslide along Paseo Del Mar is now moving four inches a day, exposing huge, deepening crevices along the seafront roadway and dropping chunks of earth and concrete into the ocean below.

At the beginning of November, the road was only moving at a daily rate of less than half an inch.

Market research firm Technomic is out with its 2011 Consumer Flavor Report, and one finding is that 53% of consumers say "new and unique flavors" drive their decisions on where to eat, compared to just 42% in 2009. The report's authors say that "craveability and culinary expertise [are] increasingly relevant to consumers, many of whom say they are more interested in experiencing new flavors as they dine out."

In fact, given the EU problems today, every member nation should have a referendum on whether to stay or leave the EU since most countries never allowed their citizens to vote yea or nay on joining in the first place. My question is what kind of union is against democracy and voters having their say on important issues or where politicians bypass voters and suddenly announce new leaders without elections?

Even Reich Chancellor Hitler supported plebiscites and this is far more than we can say for Merkel or the European Union. We all know how earlier referendums on EU membership were curtailed when the elites discovered citizens in most countries would intelligently vote to oppose joining the European Union. This is why the British people have been prohibited from voting on EU membership. The banking and political elites demand each nation march to the tune of the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and Berlin regardless of what is in the best interest of individual EU nations.

Decaying Into A Police State

The process is sadly well under way. And I am throwing in the towel on the American people for ushering in the police state. I’m not going to bother cataloging all the recent behavior, authoritative use of violence, lying rhetoric, or even to define what is a police state. The line of events, from the patriot acts, the department of homeland security, the groping of children and senior citizens at airports, the wiretaps, rendition and torture, the expansion of wars and assassinations, up to the suppression of Occupation Wall Street protests, are part of the historic record. As is the blatant serial betrayal and misuse of trust, granted the political leaders and perversely twisted against us, most obviously with wars and bailouts, as prequel to the inevitable misuse of trust in the police state the public had granted, and will have used against them down the future line. No police state in history has ever acted otherwise, and the American one will not be the first.

A police state in the USA can only take hold with the acquiescence of the people. That prerequisite has been met. Most recently reconfirmed with the acceptance of police violence in several cities, inflicted upon OWS protesters. Acceptance being the absence of tens of thousands of citizens in the streets, demanding arrest and prosecution of the police officers who committed violence. But like the bankers, mortgage brokers and other criminals, these have gone un-investigated and uncharged. The number of American people demanding justice is miniscule.

Egyptian Military Say Their Tactics Are No Worse Than The Methods Used By US Police Against Occupy Protesters

The Egyptian military, battling renewed demonstrations in Tahrir Square, have defended their used of force against protesters by comparing themselves to police in the US who are dealing with the Occupy protests.

According to various sources, officials on Egyptian TV have asked why they are being criticised when similar tactics are allegedly being used against peaceful protesters in America.

The comments come in the wake of controversial tactics used by police in a number of US cities. Just in the past week, 84-year-old Dorli Rainey was allegedly pepper-sprayed by police at Occupy Seattle and protesters at UC Davis were pepper-sprayed after police claimed they felt threatened by a bunch of people sitting on the ground.

L.A. Hospital Denies Liver Transplant To Medical Marijuana User Despite Prescription From Its Own Doctor

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles is refusing to grant a liver transplant to a cancer patient because he used medical marijuana, which not only is legal under California law but also was prescribed by a Cedars doctor.

Diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer in 2009, Norman B. Smith, 63, has been treated at Cedars-Sinai by oncologist Steven Miles, who approved medicinal marijuana in part to help his patient cope with the effects of chemotherapy. Smith became eligible for a liver transplant last year, but was removed from the list in February after testing positive for marijuana.

Private Prison Charges Inmates $5 a Minute for Phone Calls While They Work for $1 a Day

Last year the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), the nation’s largest private prison company, received $74 million of taxpayers’ money to run immigration detention centers. Their largest facility in Lumpkin, Georgia, receives $200 a night for each of the 2,000 detainees it holds, and rakes in yearly profits between $35 million and $50 million.

Prisoners held in this remote facility depend on the prison’s phones to communicate with their lawyers and loved ones. Exploiting inmates’ need, CCA charges detainees here $5 per minute to make phone calls. Yet the prison only pays inmates who work at the facility $1 a day. At that rate, it would take five days to pay for just one minute.

Nobody's holding out any hope of a last-minute surprise agreement to cut more than a trillion in deficits over the next decade, the Associated Press reported. The special bipartisan "supercommittee" is expected to call it quits today, with nothing to show for the two months of talks. The finger-pointing continues from both sides, with Democrats saying they couldn't get Republicans to boost taxes enough for wealthy Americans, and Republicans saying Democrats weren't serious about entitlement reform. The non-decision is supposed to trigger the "doomsday option," meaning across-the-board cuts will take effect.

Poll: Romney leading Obama In Mich.

LANSING, Mich. - A poll of likely Michigan voters released Sunday showed Mitt Romney with an apparent lead over Democratic President Barack Obama should the Michigan-born ex-Massachusetts governor get the Republican nomination.
The poll showed 46 percent supporting Romney and 41 percent backing Obama if the 2012 presidential election were held now. The difference is just past the poll's 4 percent margin of sampling error. Thirteen percent are undecided.

'Tow Plow' To Take On Maryland's Snowy Winter Roads

HANOVER, Md. - A repeat of Snowmaggedon isn't in the forecast -- at least, not in the immediate future.

PALMER PARK, Md. - Prince George's County police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect in an Edmonston, Md. slaying they say was released after he was mistakenly granted bail.

Frederick Scott, 24, of Chillum, Md., has been charged with murder in the March shooting death of 30-year-old Phillip Watson of Washington. Scott was arrested in May in Las Vegas and was extradited to Maryland, where he was held on a no bond status.

Ohio Woman Faces Jail Time For Feeding Squirrels

KETTERING, Ohio – An Ohio woman could serve jail time for feeding squirrels on her neighbors' property.

WDTN-TV reported Annick Richardson of Kettering, Ohio, will appear in court in December for a pretrial hearing on two counts of criminal trespassing. If convicted, she could serve up to 60 days in jail and pay a fine. She was appointed a public defender Friday.

Neighbors said Richardson went onto their property to leave peanuts for local squirrels. The animals, drawn to the nuts, then ruined gardens, chewed through car wires and clogged air conditioners with peanuts, the report said.

Salisbury Police Department Press release 11-21-11

On November 20, 2011 at approximately 12:40 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department were dispatched to the Club Azul in the Plaza Gateway Building for the report of a large fight. Upon arrival the officers observed approximately two (2) to three (3) hundred male and female subjects in the middle of the street involved in a number of individual fights. The officers met with club security who advised that an altercation inside of the club had led to a larger fight outside in the parking lot.

As the original fight started in the lot, a number of other fights broke out. The officers were then directed to a male victim who had been the target of the original assault and fight. The victim had been assaulted by a number of suspects and had sustained serious injuries to his facial area. As officers calmed other fights that had broken out, the victim left the area without leaving any contact information.

All fights were stopped and the individuals involved eventually left the area.

Attempts by the officers to locate the victim for information and treatment were unsuccessful. The Salisbury Police received assistance from the Wicomico Co. Sheriff’s Department, the Maryland State Police and the Delmar Police Department with these altercations.

The Salisbury Police would like to make contact with the original victim in the assault to assist the victim with any services or treatment that the victim may need. The Salisbury Police is asking the victim, or anyone who has information about the assault, to call the Police Department at 410-548-3165 or to make contact with Crime Solvers of Delmarva. On November 19, 2011 at approximately 11:37 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the six hundred (600) block of Liberty Street for the report of a large party and a subject firing a handgun. Upon arrival the officers observed subjects located all around a residence and a number of subjects flee into an outbuilding behind the residence. Just In Time For Holiday Travel: Gas Prices Fall 5 Cents

U.S. average gasoline prices fell nearly 5 cents a gallon to $3.38 over the last two weeks due to a combination of weak economic conditions and fewer daylight hours, an industry analyst said on Sunday.

The national average for self-serve, regular gas is down 8.64 cents over the past month, according to the Lundberg survey. Since the last Lundberg report on Nov. 4, the average was $3.38 a gallon, down 4.82 cents.

Lewes, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested three women as part of an investigation into prostitution occurring at massage parlors in the Lewes and Rehoboth, Delaware areas.

The Delaware State Police Sussex County Drug Unit, along with the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations, began an investigation in October of 2011 into the Accupressure Massage located in the 17000 block of Coastal Highway, Lewes, DE, and the Rainbow New Spa, located in the 37000 block of Rehoboth Avenue Extended, Rehoboth, DE after receiving information that the employees of these massage parlors were promising customers sexual favors in exchange for money.

On Friday, November 18, investigators, with the assistance of the Department of Professional Regulations, executed search warrants at the Accupressure Massage and the Rainbow New Spa. During the searches of the massage parlors, investigators were able to gather evidence linking three employees to prostitution. As a result Hui Wu, 54, and Hsiu Jung Yu, 57, who are both employees of the Rainbow New Spa, and Feng Ying Liu, 52, who is an employee of the Accupressure Massage, were all arrested and charged with the above list of crimes.

One local family's story illuminates how food stamp use has tripled in county

He was a salesman accustomed to making $100,000 a year and she was a stay-at-home mom whose primary responsibility was caring for two pre-teen children.

They never expected to need help putting food on the table.

But Tuesday, in a small consultation room at the Department of Social Services building in Annapolis, the south county couple applied for food stamps.

They agreed to tell The Capital their story on condition of anonymity - they don't want the children to know the extent of their financial difficulties. Editors agreed to call them John and Alice Smith.

The Smiths said applying for public assistance last week was one of the hardest things they've ever done.

"I told no one we were coming here," Alice Smith said.

"I don't know what I am applying for. All I can tell you is neither of us have a job and there is zero income coming into the house," she said when senior caseworker Jeffrey Brown asked how he could help them.

State Agency Told Disabled It Had No Money While Building $34 Million Surplus

For more than two years, Heidi Berlin and her husband, Dan, have fought state bureaucracy while seeking help for their developmentally disabled son.

And for more than two years, officials have told the Edgewater couple there isn't enough money in state coffers.

So the Berlins were shocked to learn this month that over the past two years the Developmental Disabilities Administration hadn't spent at least $34 million intended to help people with disabilities - and actually returned more than $25 million to the state's General Fund.

"We live in a very depressing world," Heidi Berlin said Thursday morning after a particularly long night caring for her 4-year-old son, Adam. "But this was a real slap in the face. ... They could have helped us, but they gave the money away."

Attorney: Truck In Yale Tailgating Death Faulty

HARTFORD, Conn. - A rented U-Haul that struck and killed a Massachusetts tailgater at a Yale-Harvard football game malfunctioned as a Yale undergraduate drove the vehicle into a crowded parking lot, the student's attorney said Sunday.

William Dow, representing Yale student Brendan Ross, said Saturday's collision was a "tragic accident that appears to be the result of a vehicle malfunction." He did not elaborate and said Ross would not be speaking publicly about what happened.

New I-95 Newark Toll Plaza Welcomes Thanksgiving Holiday Travelers For The First Time

Dover -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reminds travelers to exercise caution as heavy holiday traffic is expected throughout the state this Thanksgiving weekend. The busiest travel times are from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. the day before Thanksgiving and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday after Thanksgiving.

This is the first Thanksgiving that the reconstructed I-95 Newark Toll Plaza will feature highway-speed E-ZPass lanes and seven fully-staffed manual cash-lanes available in each direction. Travelers can expect smooth and quick passage through the previously notorious trouble spot just north of the Delaware/Maryland state line.

To improve conditions, the early 1960's-era site had significant improvements completed this summer. In conjunction with the highway-speed lanes, new signage, pavement markings, lighting systems, and employee safety measures were addressed.

To serve customers at the two State Route 1 toll areas, additional personnel will also be on hand at Biddle's Corner Plaza and the Dover Plaza to ease traffic congestion.

NYC Mayor: Al Qaeda Sympathizer Arrested

NEW YORK - Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Sunday an "al Qaeda sympathizer" who plotted to bomb police and post offices in New York City as well as U.S. troops returning home has been arrested on numerous terrorism-related charges.

Bloomberg announced at a news conference the Saturday arrest of 27-year-old Jose Pimentel of Manhattan, a U.S. citizen originally from the Dominican Republic.
