Please Help Me Understand This!

Yesterday I visited Delmar Elementary School to pick up my Grandson. Yes, I too am on the fringe of being called "ELDERLY."

Here's what I don't get. All too often I'd drive around the City of Salisbury and see these signs posted freely around Ben's Red Swings and I'd write the City Council and Mayor and a few weeks later and a few letters later they would eventually disappear.

Now I'm seeing them on Public School grounds and I have a VERY serious problem with that. The abuse this company continues to take advantage of illegally is just unbelievable. Now I don't know the owners of this company and I'm sure they're good people but this abuse has to stop!

I too have owned retail sports businesses like this and I could just see getting sued and fined for ever thinking of placing a sign up somewhere and not having a permit! Who are these people that can constantly get away with this?

Oh, by the way, it's NOT my camera, the sign is upside down. So you also know, I visited the "Crown Sports Center" and I didn't see one of these signs posted anywhere! Should the Crown Sports Center start making up their own signs and post them on Public School Property for free? After all, they're providing unbelievable services for the community and probably deserve free advertisement for taking such HUGE risks!

Does Mr. Sharma Ever Get Out Of The Office?

This is West Gordy Road, between Northwood Dr. and Bus. Rt. 13. Wicomico County. A concerned Citizen said, "I haven't seen a bushhog go down this road in over 2 complete summers. I've lost count of how many times I've almost been creamed by a Sysco truck. (they have a warehouse on this road as well)."

Hide & Go Seek!

I was wondering what they have been doing day after day just off Rt. 50. I finally stopped the other day and played a little game of Hide & Go Seek and look what I found. An unending supply of fresh trees for the picking. I had NO IDEA the State of Maryland allows a loading and unloading zone right on the side of Rt. 50. Seems safe to me. Just pull over to the side of the road and for a good 8 to 10 hours a day load and unload trees all day long while cars pass you at 65 miles per hour.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

I have held numerous recent conversations with people referencing Ron Alessi signs and what you're about to hear is quite interesting and 100% truth.

I have a neighbor who has a friend who asked if they could put Ron Alessi signs on their property and under pressure she agreed but insisted to this person she wasn't voting for him.

I spoke to another friend who explained that on a business location on Rt. 13 he walked into the business to say hello to this friend and unfortunately the friend wasn't there at the time but their son was. While speaking to the son my friend asked what the deal was on the Ron Alessi sign and the son said, Mom and Dad aren't voting for him. A friend of Dad's in the Chamber of Commerce put pressure on him to put the sign out here and he did so but they're not voting for him.

Each and every time I have this conversation with someone they tell me they've heard the same exact kind of story from the people they talk to. So be careful about being fooled folks. Alessi is using all the slick pressure moves politicians seem to abuse.

Knowing his mathematical skills from the Zoo, if they bought 500 signs and posted them he'd tell you there are 1,000 of them around the City. I guess if you count both sides he wouldn't be lying though, right? Say Goodnight Gracy.

Intergrity Matters Now Shuts Down

The Worcester County Blog Site has closed their door, (so to speak). I told them they weren't going to survive based on their pansie attitude and I was 100% correct. The link below comes up with the following message. They should have left the Oglesby family alone!

Can We Actually Enjoy RiverFest?

As residents walk on recently contaminated grounds through the local lift station dumping raw sewage everywhere, can everyone trust their children won't be harmed by contaminated grounds?

Since HAZMAT was not even called, let alone brought in, the City did a questionable job cleaning up this entire area between the old draw bridge all the way up to the lift station.

Then there's the contaminated river as well. It's no wonder Iyeska and I didn't see Warning Signs in this particular area where the raw sewage actually ran into the river and last week a Diver was in the water working on a tug boat until they learned from us that the water was in fact contaminated.

I'm sorry Folks but to me this is one of the phoniest celebrations I have ever seen in my entire life! Then to shove it in everyone's face and hold it right where the illegal spill actually happened and no one is concerned, this is a joke!

I hear the Salisbury Zoo will also be there acting like they too respect the river, yet it wasn't that many months ago the MDE came in there and slammed them by capping illegal pipes draining raw sewage and chemicals directly into the river. Oh, I know some of you are saying, let it be Joe, lay off the Zoo. NOPE! Jim Rapp and Ron Alessi lied to the community by stating they had nothing to do with those pipes illegally dumping into the river and that the pipes were put in there some 30 years ago. WRONG! LIARS! It was only 10 years ago or so when they built those exhibits and pools we're talking about and they're liars! Own up to breaking the law and we'll go away. Until then, you're liars, cheaters and con men.

Just remember parents, there are no "5 Second Rules" at this event! In this case it will be against the law to drop something on the ground and allow your children to pick it up, let alone eat it! I wonder if the Health Department went over there and tested the grounds? Besides that, enjoy the event. LOL

Someone's Got Some Explaining To Do!

Sorry about the third picture being blurry but what you will see is the concrete slab that I question the most.

OK, here's the deal. See that roof on that huge portion of this Lowe's Building? Some how, some way, they installed that entire structure without the City knowing about it. Now you at least can see the scope of the size of this beast being built without any permits!

Then notice how there's a concrete floor under the entire thing. OK, tell me how the City had NO CLUE that something was going to be put in there when the rest of the entire parking lot is blacktop?

That would have been the first red flag to me! No one is going to tell me that this whole area was structured for an outdoor garden center and there were NO lines drawn on it for parking spaces! The red flag was up years ago and someone completely closed their eyes on this matter well before Lowe's put a roof on it. I'll bet they'll blame it on the people that were involved back then no longer work in that department any more. Salisbury is a joke, that's all I can say.

Follow That Light!

Sometimes I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. Tonight I was traveling down Waller Road when I saw a helicopter with a spot light heading my way. The next thing I knew the spot light was on my car and I felt like I was in L.A. Cruzin Down De Blvd.

The next thing I knew there were some 10+ Police Cars flying by me and I immediately turned around and followed. They all pulled into the pond area at the Wicomico County Dump where it turns out a 14 year old had stolen a van and ultimately turned himself into the Delmar Police.

I had also heard there was another 14 year old girl who had run away and was still missing. Apparently they had been hanging out by the pond area for the past two days. There were four different Police Departments involved, all of which was a great pleasure meeting and or seeing again. The Wicomico County Sheriffs Department, Maryland State Police, Delaware State Police and the Delmar Police Department. All I can tell you is, God Forbid your 14 year old child disappeared, there's no better dedicated group of Police Officers I'd want looking for my child than this group! What a team!

What's The ONLY Thing Stopping Me From Going In?

See that gray truck on the left? Guess who's truck that is? The one, the only, Jim Rapp! I thought Alessi wanted to handle things like a "Gentleman?"

Nevertheless, I went, I had witnesses and Alessi had next to no one there to support him! From the looks of the vehicles there I'd say a good portion of the people there were Zoo Staff and Alessi's campaign has come to an end.

Ron, it was real but in all reality it was a joke in the beginning and it's a joke to the very end. YOUR TIME IS UP!

Folks, this story is going to absolutely blow you away!

Many of you have seen this property for years on Rt. 50 with a FOR SALE sign on it. What most of you don't realize is, this is the property Mike Dunn's father and partner purchased just over 2 years ago and is TODAY in default!

If you go back to the City's Web Site and look up Resolution 1138 back on 8-9-04 you'll clearly see that these people had 2 years to either develop this property or lose it. I can remember the day back when all this came about 2 years ago when Debbie Campbell was so bothered by this property being sold for probably 2 cents on a dollar!

Actually, the property sold for $11,400.00 while the City had more than $25,000.00 in it between taxes, water and sewer bills and so forth. The Council and the Mayor let this property go but there's even more to it!

The property was not sold to them for them to re sell it. It was sold to them so they could IMPROVE the community and develop that particular area and that's why it supposedly went so cheap.

However, those of you that have been driving by that area and recall just how long these Long & Foster Signs have been up know that these guys were looking to flip that property immediately. Here's the deal too. They want $125,000.00 for property they paid $11,400.00 for and have been desperate most recently trying to "unload" it to developer friends for a mere $75,000.00!

As I was digging into this even more today it finally dawned on me, their contractual agreement is up! It's no wonder they were trying to "unload" the property! This property now belongs back to the City as this group once again did not fulfill their end of the deal and the City MUST take the property back.

No more excuses Mike Dunn and Barrie Tilghman, this property has been for sale long enough, no more extensions! More to come on Barrie Tilghman's CDC scam...........

The Daily Time Lied About Bob Culver Today!

Earlier this morning I met one on one with Bob Culver whereas he provided me with the most recent update on his Campaign Finance Report.

I called Bob early this morning asking him if he had provided this information to the Daily Times and he replied, "They never called me and asked for them Joe."

Staff Reporter Ben Penserga stated, "Campaign contribution information for Republican Bob Culver and Democrat Tom Taylor were not available Wednesday." Heck Ben, I called and asked about it and not only are they available, he delivered them to muy home immediately.

It sure looks like the Daily Times has made up their mind!

I've Not Been Served

Considering the man who never reads the Blog Sites is so upset that the Blog Sites are aparently harassing him as well as his Wife and Family, I hardly slept a wink last night worrying that a processor would serve me with papers once again as Ron Alessi is threatening to sue me. NOT!

Historic District Commission Is Sinking

Mike Dunn made it very clear during the Work Session yesterday that this group is barely floating.

Shanie Shields said, people just can't afford to do things the way this group wants them done. If a Nurse wants to buy one of these homes for a reasonable price, let's say $100,000.00 and she wants to fix it up, she can't afford to do everything the way this group wants them done. You want these kind of door knobs, these kind of fixtures, they just can't afford to buy one of these houses and fix it up and these are the most affordable homes in Town.

Mike Dunn then said, how many of these properties do you know of that have been able to receive grants? Randy Taylor didn't know of one. Debbie Campbell said she knew of about 5 people that were able to do so but the question was directed at this group and they were clueless.

Mike then stated that they were sinking fast, you're not sunk yet but if this group can't make this a positive experience and a good thing for the community they're going to shut down the project, (Historic Commission) and drop it all together.

The Mayor was like a little child, walking into the room passing out little notes to Randy and others and then walking out of the room. Randy was dressed in shorts like it was 100 degrees outside, while everyone else was in suits and showing their respect towards confronting the Council. Remarks were made about his attire but he simply didn't care. He had his little Thank You note from the Mayor and that's all that counted. He'll get whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, he's a FOB. I'm not knocking you Randy, I'd just never want to be you.

You Must Register Your Vacant Home After 180 Days

The City of Salisbury wants to charge a $25.00 registration fee for any home vacant after 180 days. They followed up by stating that Officer Gordy knows of an additional 100 homes in the N.E. portion of the City that are also vacant but not on record with the City.

I happen to know of quite a few homes in the N.W. portion of the City that are vacant as well and none of these figures include businesses that are vacant, hence the photos above. Who will voluntarily send the City a check for $25.00 once their property hits 180 days old without someone living in it? It seems to me that the City is doing everything they can to find ways to take back these properties without it costing them very much and auction them off to FOB's?

Now I'm not saying this is a bad thing, them taking back properties that should be torn down or rebuilt. I'm also not saying Investors shouldn't get a great deal to do so in neighborhoods that won't draw much in return financially. It is a big risk. However, I believe they need to be far more creative by having an entire package from beginning to end before they start doing so.

What I mean is, these should be "start up builders" and not developers. These should be minority builders and not bigger, more successful builders. Make this an honorable thing where there's a win, win for everyone involved. Let the little guy grow so there's more competition down the road and with that, prices will start to come down because there's more competition.

What about the Commercial side of things too? Why isn't the City going after all of these buildings as well? I read today in the Grapevine, are they going to charge the Old Mall this fee?
Why is the City pampering the Commercial Owners? Will the City be registering the vacant bathrooms outside the Salisbury Zoo near Ben's Red Swings?

Forgive me for bouncing around on this post so much but there's so many questions as to why all of a sudden this has come up and where they're truly going with this. I agree that something needs to be done but I also believe much more thought needs to go into it and a final plan needs to be reached before they simply start a program like this.

These comments and opinions are made with the assumption that the person named as "Ron" actually said the things in an interview with Bill Reddish. I really find it hard to believe that anyone running for public office would be stupid enough to say the un-American things attributed to "RON." It sounded like an Orwellian nightmare!
Prior to reading this, I had no opinion either way about the person named as “Ron.” I do now! I didn’t read his last name, but I assume he is running for some office. I don't know anything about him or his family, so I will make no negative remarks about their past. I will state that I would never vote for anyone who challenges the right of the public to communicate and judge candidates for public office. We, the people, can never afford to elect people who call free speech, which I believe the blogs are, a "cancer." Repression of free speech is the cancer! This is America, Ron!

RON: “We have a cancer in our community and it is the blogs. All responsible news organizations, like this radio station,answer to someone. The bloggers answer to no one. The bloggers think they are important and that they are a creditable news source. They are not news, they are garbage.”

REPLY: Communication between citizens, what can be more American than that? What can be more un-American than a public official calling them a cancer and not important? Anyone who says that either doesn’t understand or respect what America is supposed to be!
Bloggers shouldn’t have to answer to anyone. Correspondence and exchange of ideas among the public should never be censored in a free society. (Of course there should be redress for libel and slander).

REPLY: Anyone running for any public office should be held to higher standards than a private citizen. The public is entitled to, and indeed remiss, if they do not thoroughly investigate every candidate and choose the best. Again, libel and slander is not acceptable, but questioning everything in a candidates background should be done by the public.

It is NOT a public duty to run for office. It is a public duty to investigate ALL candidates for public office. The elected official is the representative of the private citizen, not their King, master or censor!

REPLY: This is a Joke, isn’t it? Well, I believe the constitution gives the public the right to judge those who would represent them! So, Ron, your problem isn't with us bloggers; it's with the Constitution of The United States. Of course the public has the right and obligation to judge candidates for public office. The threat to “check out” the electorate for doing their American duty is reminiscent of the late senator, Joe McCarthy!!!!!!! Heaven forbid we ever again elect someone with that mindset!

REPLY: It is not a crime to be rude and disrespectful. No one likes rude or disrespectful people. We don't have to elect them to public office, and we don’t have to associate with them. Why stop there? Do we have room in our community for those without higher education? for minorities? How about the handicapped? How about people like me who are old, fat and ugly, can we live in your community? No thanks, I don't want to!

REPLY: Again, harassment should not be tolerated, but to threaten those who investigate and communicate thoughts with others about candidates for PUBLIC office smacks of McCarthyism. There is NO place for that in public office!!!!! Just what we need, another public official who wants to be "in our wallet."

Lowe's Breaks The Law

Jack Lennox recently picked up on a huge red flag when it came to Lowe's.

They were looking to extent the front of the store with a new addition and came to P&Z to file for permits.

When Jack started looking into the parking spaces at that location to make sure they did in fact have the proper amount of spaces he realized they were short and something was seriously wrong.

Turns out, Lowe's added a Garden Center and even roofed in a portion of this area without going to P&Z for permits to do so. Because a good portion of this was under roof, it took away from the parking spaces allocated for the proper zoning code and Jack picked up on it.

The questions I have are, how did Lowe's get away with building such a structure right on Rt. 13 and get away without having to file permits? Secondly, now that the City is aware they broke the law, HOW BIG IS THE FINE LOWE'S WILL RECEIVE?

You see Folks, we'd be fined for pulling such a thing and I'd demand Lowe's is treated far more severely than any one of us as they absolutely know better. Let's see what happens with this matter down the road. I want to see the fines.

Mounted Police Update

This evening before the City Council Work Session I asked Pam, (the City's Finance Director) what was up with these two horses and she replied, "Nothing has been decided yet."

I then said, it's my understanding there are 4 horses total. Are there going to be 2 or 4 horses going up for Auction? She replied, the City does have 4 horses and they are trying to decide exactly what's going to happen to all 4 horses.

I then said, well are there going to be 4 horses going up for Auction then? She replied, we are trying to decide what we're going to do with all 4 animals.

I then said, I don't want to sound like a pain here Pam but I heard two of these horses are supposed to go back to their original owners? She replied, there are 4 horses we're trying to make decisions on and we have yet to make any decisions and there is no Auction date set as of yet. Sound familiar?

All of this follows a two week wait for answers towards these animals in which the Mayor assured me someone would get right back with me on an answer and once again there are no answers.

What I will say is, I was there, I spoke with Pam personally and it is my impression there will now be 4 horses going up for Auction. The Mayor despises these animals so badly that I'm sure she's going to do everything in her powers to make sure none of us are aware of their decision. That being said I am calling out to Debbie Campbell to please take this serious matter into her hands and get these answers for us? I have multiple letters from so many of these wonderful people who have had hands on experience with these horses and they are almost begging for answers.

As usual I was at the County Council Meeting this morning and the City Council Meeting/Work Session this evening and there was no sign of Ron Alessi? As usual the honorable Bob Culver is "always" at these important meetings but you'll never see Mr. Alessi attending such said meetings. He has clearly shown he not only doesn't give a crap about what goes on regularly in either the City or County, he does have the time to hide behind Radio Interviews and is certainly not the man he claims to be wanting to settle things between the Bloggers like a gentleman.

By the way Ron, can you explain how I'm not giving back to the Community if I attend each and every one of these events/meetings and you're never there? Some would say you need to start from the ground up. In your case you bypass all these meetings, have no experience or first hand knowledge towards what's going on in the County and you challenge me? Instead you go right to the executive level and bash all of us putting in our time? Bob Culver is there Ron, where have you been?

Maybe a surprise visit at your next event will settle our differences like gentlemen, right Ron?

It's also my understanding this company just recently folded while Ron had Tony Kurn, (his supposed partner) running the business for him. The Company had been up and running for the past 5 years and out of nowhere simply shut down. Enquiring minds want to know?

Jennifer and I have given to the community. Jennifer put in 18 years at the Salisbury Zoo and herniated three disks in her back on the job and was forced out by you because she could no longer handle the physical stress from such work. That's NOT giving enough? After 18 years she was making a mere $27,000.00 a year, (after 18 years)! That's NOT enough? You terminated her position because she counldn't continue giving enough? We filed to get a Grandparent Friends Membership, sent in the money and you personally sent our money back and said we weren't friends of the Zoo and you had the City Council actually make up new rules "after" you had already turned us down, 18 years wasn't good enough? THEN we unconditionally donated funds to sponsor 4 animals for an entire year and you sent our money back! I have personally raised several hundred dollars for the Night of the Living Zoo as well as my time and all of our children's time to help run that event. Not good enough Ron?

How good will you be with memory God Forbid you became County Executive? How many animals are in the Salisbury Zoo Ron? How many died last year Ron? How much money have you raised for that $2,000,000.00 building the AZA has demanded and you covered up? Why did you and Jim Rapp deny knowledge about the illegal pipes draining into the River from exhibits within the Zoo when you both knew they were illegal? Are you still upset with me because I found 5 mauled ducks in 9 days at the Zoo and Jim Rapp never told you about it? My pictures don't lie Ron. So threaten a lawsuit all you want, you DO NOT scare me at all! You are a Public Figure and I may say "anything" I like about you.

Because people see dead animals in the Zoo. Because people realize there's next to no animals left at the Zoo. Because you backed and supported Jim Rapp who admittedly stated he did in fact expose himself to women at the Zoo and you supported him, backed him and stood by his side while the MSM covered it up. Because you refuse to tell anyone just how many animals are at the Salisbury Zoo! Remember it here first Folks, there were 500 animals at the Salisbury Zoo 3 years ago! They might have 125 left. Keep in mind they keep adding animals every year too.

County Council Exposes Another Major Flaw About Salisbury WWTP!

The County Council explained today how the Salisbury WWTP by law has to hold at least one days worth of reserve water at the Plant.

Even with the new improvements and upgrades the WWTP will NOT be ale to do so at TODAY'S volume until the year 2021!

Business People at today's meeting blamed the City Council and Developers for this major screw up as it is hurting Economic & Development for the honorable business person while Developers get away with whatever they want.

The County Council is very concerned about the WWTP issues but cannot do a whole lot about it at the moment. I say, swallow up the City of Salisbury into the County, get rid of the Mayor all together and the City Council and get what is inevitable done sooner than later. The City of Salisbury is going Bankrupt under this Mayor/Housewife who knows nothing about financing, unless it has to do with her making money on the sly on development deals, hence WalMart in Fruitland, right Barrie?

The County Council stated today that the WWTP is only holding 24% of the water required for such a Plant. Now do tell me Folks, if this were a private business, wouldn't we have been shut down by now? It's funny how we all have to live by their rules but they can do anything they want. Do as I say, not as I do.

Skipjacks Is Coming

It has been 2 years in the making and today the County Council have agreed to go the extra mile to get these fellas on track, the right track that is.

I was told today that they have been through 5 different interest rates with the Bank because it has taken so long. Annexations, WWTP issues, you name it, these people have experienced it.

On a rainy day these people are finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. What scares me is, the City only figures this company will only use 1,200 gallons of water a day? Folks, John Jacobs and Co. are scaling down the water usage in order to free up more hook ups for the WWTP because 1,200 gallons a day just doesn't cut it.

City Of Salisbury Parking Garage, Or Haunted House?

This morning while I attended the County Council Meeting I was appalled by the lack of illumination in this Parking Garage!

Why ANY customer would have to put up with a security issue like this while paying good money to park their vehicle there is ridiculous!

I did not use a flash here and trust me, when I used the auto button to clear up the photo it actually halped make it look even brighter than it actually is in there.

Do they even have a Security Guard on duty there?

The Saliabury Zoo & Jim Rapp Continue To Be A Disappointment

I just ran across the blog pertaining to the Salisbury Zoo. My father served as director there in the early 1990's and fought hard to improve its image and professionalism with a very limted budget. I certainly hate to think all of his work has basically gone by the wayside, especially in light of the fact that the young man currently running the zoo seemed bright to my father when he worked there.

I do know he recounted to me every month how he had to fight tooth and nail with the powers that be to make any changes to the zoo, regardless of how beneficial they were. He truly believed that Salisbury could become one of the finest small zoos in the U.S. , and he would be heart-broken to hear of Mr. Rapp's, and the city's, exploits.

Who's Been Mounted?

Two weeks ago today, I confronted the City Council and asked them directly, point blank, are these two horses going up for Auction?

Each and every Council Member sat there in awe, jaws dropped and not one of them could and or would answer my question.

I then turned to the Mayor and said, perhaps you can tell us what's going on Mayor? The Mayor responded with, yes, the horses will be going up for Auction as long as the Council recognizes them as surplus items. I can get you all the details as soon as we know more information.

I was cool with that. However, it's now been 2 weeks and I've received nothing. Allow me to take you back slightly and mention that I confronted Chief Webster a week earlier and he denied having any knowledge whatsoever about these horses.

Yesterday I received a call from one of the Mounted Patrol Police Mary Pines. Mary has been on the Force for 6 years now. Following protocol, Mary has gone through each step, every channel and she has made it VERY clear that she wants first right of refusal on these horses if the City considers selling them. They own a farm and can easily handle these animals. Chief Webster has denied any knowledge of these animals going up for Auction to Mary as well. Why the big denial Chief?

Mary was told she couldn't have these horses because they were going back to their original owners. But then again, why an Auction? Are there 4 horses, 2 of which are not in these photos? Are they auctioning the other 2 possible horses? You can't ask the Chief, he's clueless. If you ask the Mayor, we'll get right back to you on that one and nothing happens.

What I can tell you is that the Salisbury Police Department is dropping the Mounted Police Program and no one has said a word. How many secrets can one City have?

I'd like to add the following. As many of you know, Jennifer and I spent quite a bit of time last year rescuing foals from slaughter. We brought them back to our home and raised them back to health and then adopted them out to very loving families. We did our own background checks on these families to make sure these horses were going to excellent homes where there was a pasture, fencing, a barn and so forth and so on. Then we had a contract stating we could visit any time we'd like and if the conditions weren't proper we could take the horse back immediately.

What does an Auction do to assure you these horses are in fact going to a good home? NOTHING! The City is out for the almighty dollar once again and they couldn't care less what happens to these horses afterwards. Sounds like the Salisbury Zoo all over again to me!

Maybe the best thing that could happen is that Jennifer and I outbid everyone there at the Auction and can assure they live out the rest of their lives at a great home. Time will tell.
