NYC lawmakers eyeing NYPD dissolution as one answer to ‘defund’ protests

Top city lawmakers are looking at chipping away at the New York Police Department’s contact with civilians by cleaving off its school safety and parking enforcement divisions, moves that would amount to the biggest overhaul of Big Apple law enforcement in decades.

The floated restructuring comes as civil rights activists and far-left politicians demand City Hall “defund” the police in the wake of a series of confluent crises — the national outcry over the death George Floyd, mounting criticism of the NYPD’s aggressive policing of Floyd-related protests and Gotham’s already massive $9 billion coronavirus budget hole.

“There’s no way in the world as a city body, as a Council, we can just walk away from this,” said Councilwoman Alicka Ampry-Samuels (D-Brooklyn), who chairs the public housing committee. “There’s no way we can go back to budget negotiations like we did in the past.”

To the people of new york. Please home school your children. Remove them from public schools for their safety.

I hope they defund police so I can refuse to watch the NFL and watch the nightly news death toll in Democrat cities

Should consider defunding the UN instead.

Let's take the cop out of schools so when we plan the school shootings, in order to push for more gun control, it is easier. Anyone notice where the riots take place? Not where people believe in the right to bare arms. Even on the shore, they know better.

Think about it. Major cities are the hot bed for left wing voting blocks. Let them self destruct, defund the police, let the inner cities implode and crumble.
