Personally I have no problem with the check point, but let us be honest MSP. This is not about promoting public awareness of the dangers of impaired driving!!
The whole point is to get you to roll down your window so they can "detect the odor of marijuana". Then they have probable cause to search your vehicle and who knows what they will find.
so how do you smell opioids? this is about revenue enhancement not stopping the flow of drugs! Think about this, if msp wasn't doing something for show like this then the public would be raising hell to disband this marauding band of robbers! cause they sure as hell aint doing much else! sanctioned by who else? the state of course, as always with a gun pointed at your head!
I would have given anything to have a checkpoint the day my 22 y.o. cousin was killed by a drunk driver. It was a horrible, awful time, as I tried to pick out an outfit to cover her mangled body. As far as I'm concerned MSP can write all the tickets they want to drunk (or drugged up) drivers.

Revenue enhancement in the name of safety! It's near the end of the month and they have a quota to fill. The state has to get their money some way!

There were other countries in History that used check points
