23-year-old black columnist says reparations would make young black people 'victims without their consent'

A 23-year-old black columnist argued during a Wednesday Senate hearing that reparations should only be paid to those who lived in slavery and not their descendants.

Coleman Hughes, a writer for Quillette, argued that distributing reparations to young black people would make them slavery "victims without their consent," an assertion that was met with an eruption of boos from those in attendance.

"I understand that reparations are about what people are owed, regardless of how well they're doing," Hughes said in his statement. "But the people who are owed for slavery are no longer here and we're not entitled to collect on their debts. Reparations, by definition, are only given to victims. So the moment you give me reparations, you've made me into a victim without my consent. Not just that: you've made one third of black Americans who poll against reparations into victims without their consent."

If they want to pay them money for slavery that goes back 150 to 175 years ago. Why don't the Fed. Gov. Pay the American born Japanese people that were put into internment camps at the beginning of WW2 money ?
What about the Chinese that built the railroads out west ?
What about paying may father's family for exposure to agent orange during the Vietnam war ?
There is not a single person alive that was part of the civil war. There are other countries that still had slavery well into the 20th century.
I could go on, but, that would be just starting st!t
The U.S.A. did not start slavery. Go back to the black African slave owners that sold their own people into slavery..

How are they going to determine who gets what? What if your family were slaves and they were white, what if you family didn't own slaves at all, what if one of your parents is white. Do you only get paid half? What if your family immigrated here after slaves were free. Do they still have to pay. SO many questions left unanswered.

Here's the way I see it. If they give reparations, which they're not, then that's the end of affirmative action, and the naacp. And catering to blacks because they're black. All bets are off now. Make your own way, no pandering any more. We're even bitches, get used to it. And get ready for the fall out.
