Sullivan, IND (CBS Local)- Five-year-old Dakota Pitts returned to school for the first time on Monday after losing his father about a week ago. Dakota’s dad, Rob Pitts, was Indiana police officer for the Terre Haute and Sullivan police departments. Pitts was killed in the line of duty.
The 16-year police vet was fatally shot by a 21-year-old suspect while responding to a call last week.
When Dakota arrived back at school this week, he received a special welcome that gave him the support he needed. CBS affiliate WTHI reports that Dakota asked his mom if one of his dad’s friends could drive him to school. When he arrived at Sullivan Elementary, there were 70 Indiana police waiting outside to give Dakota his very own police escort to school.
The 5-year-old wore his father’s police badge proudly and walked past the long line of officers. The officers also gave him his very own SWAT T-shirt and badge upon his arrival. They wanted Dakota to know they will always have his back.
His dad’s sister, Kelly Jones, was there. “He will definitely know his dad was a hero. Blood doesn’t always make family. And I think the blue family went above and beyond,” Jones told WTHI.

God bless the men in blue and their families. Take my word for it when I say far more love and respect what you do than those misfits and criminals who disrespect you.
And why do cops not do this for the average citizen???? Only kids of cops, or cops themselves???? Because they are the ones who make it us vs them, the thin blue line... And no ass hats, that doesn't make us anti-cop or anti-govt or anti-authority...
There whouldn't be a divide if they first, were not trained to think like that, and if they treated everyone the same, but they don't...

If you have a problem with someone bashing the cops, then maybe you need to focus your time in the right place in the right direction, the corrupt cops!!!! They are the ones who are the problem, not the good cops, but good cops don't step in and help when a bad cop is being bad, so that makes them complicit!!! IF you want to defend cops who plant evidence, or shoot unarmed people, in the back no less, then you are part of the problem too...
And if you will follow them so blindly, then that is your problem, but I guarantee, ass soon as something happens to you, your family or friends, your tune will change, unless you are a cop, were a cop, want to be a cop or friends or family are ones too...
Prove to me there are good cops!!!! All I see in person, and on TV and YouTube and EVERYWHERE, cops doing illegal stuff... So explain to me WHY COPS DO ILLEGAL STUFF, and why that makes them hero's to you???? If you care to be educated, I have evidence and facts that back my statements up, do you?????
Oh but I forgot, ass cheek sucking cop lovers don't use facts, the make up crap to fit their agenda of calling people who hate corruption and cops who are corrupt, cop haters and cop bashing...
