'Spirit of Defiance': Confederate group in Virginia raises massive 120 foot-high rebel flag near Charlottesville

A massive Confederate battle flag has been raised just off a major highway outside Charlottesville, Virginia.

A pro-Confederacy group called The Virginia Flaggers said it raised the 30-by-50 foot banner on Saturday on private property just off Interstate 64. The flagpole is 120 feet high.

The group calls the rebel flag the 'Charlottesville I-64 Spirit of Defiance Memorial Battle Flag.'

Nothing says Patriot like flying the flag of the losing side of the civil war.

Give it a rest.

Free speech, period. Any objections are from people that are enemies of our Constitution. They better protect that property with guns, as the anti-Constitution liberals will be coming to break the law and vandalize it. That flag represents nothing but their heritage and history, and they are entitled to that by the constitution, whether you like their symbol, or not. Finally they are fighting back against the renewed "war" on them. It was over, and they were granted their history and respect after the war, to heal the wounds of the nation. Now the liberals and racists have reopened the old wounds of war by tearing down their hero and war monuments that the country granted them the right to have after the war. Peace reigned for 152 years, then Obama came along....

YES! Screw those Liberal bastards!
It is our history, our heritage, and our right!

I have to put up with a giant statue of MLK in DC, so they can put up with my flag.

I agree.

Free speech. You might no like it but you better think about starting to protect it because we are losing more free speech everyday due to crazy liberals not liking what they here and see.

For 50 years, i thought the Rebel flag represented southern pride. it wasn't until the shooting in Charleston that thousands of people started telling me it was about white supremacy. I would never have known if the MSM didn't tell me and start getting pansy politicians to start tearing down statues.
It's a flag. And if thousands can take the street in our nations capitol wearing pussy-hats, these folks have the right to fly their flag.
Most people protesting the Confederate flag do NOT live in Dixieland. Those who do really don't care.

I am offended by schools, streets, and statues to a fake "Doctor" that was a liar, and a cheat, but I am stuck looking at them.
Be hilarious if someone vandalized the MLK statue in DC.

The South is going to rise again!

They have every right to fly it. It's private property. I have every right to look at that and think, "What an asshole". I think the same thing when I see bumper stickers, hats, bathing suits, whatever. But it's still their right. I have actually come to appreciate that. I used to have to guess who the idiots were, but now they wear a sign. I'm good with that. Free speech is helpful. Fly whatever flag you want.

Great & get those Statues Back Up toooo !!!! LOL

They didn’t refer to themselves as Americans in 1845.

They referred to themselves as Virginians, Carolinians, Georgians, so on

It was a Constitutional Republic back then. Never was a Democracy (rule by majority).

The Constitution protected INDIVIDUAL rights.

Those were the good days

10:28 is correct. If we ignore the erosion of our rights they will go away.

9:20 this flag represents true history that actually happened not diminished by fools that have read something else into it for the sake of "Black Lives Matter". Remember rather you respect this flag or not do realize a lot of lives were lost in the Civil War and no matter how hard you try you cannot erase our memories of that war.

So they should fly the Nazi flag in German? Lots of lives were lost in that side too.

Its a flag and it represents nothing more than southern pride and heritage. It took the likes of local moron Dan O'Hare and his BLM butt buddy torrez Wise to create a problem locally. Their racist views and agenda are an unwanted nuisance
