Bypass North Bound Closed At Snow Hill Road
A tractor trailer went off the road and the bypass is closed north bound for the time being.

Yep, saw it on my way to work. It had just happened around 5:00AM, and the driver appeared to be okay. Happened the same place that other semi's have run off the dangerous northbound configuration. I was able to squeeze by before they shut it down. Like I said before, get used to the accidents and shutdowns. It will continue until they undo what they have done to the bypass. The current configuration is dangerous by design. I am not a highway engineer, but anyone can see that the way traffic was re-routed for the overpass rebuilds was going to create major problems. I am truly surprised that no one has been killed yet. They are a long ways from completing the project. Still plenty of time for it to kill someone.
There was a Major accident on the By-pass on Wednesday night as well that shut down the west bound lane because no one could get by due to the barrier walls. Everyone was just stuck there not able to get off until it was cleared.

Why is that? Is there a dip in the road or something that throws them out of their lane? I have seen torn up ground and destroyed road signs, is that the spot?
As a professionally licensed driver that drives through the northbound lane every work day, I can tell you with some authority that the bypass is dangerous for all that pass through it. The engineers made the lane so narrow where those trucks are wrecking, that there is barely enough room for a 102" wide trailer (standard 53' trailer width) to fit through the restriction. That trailer has less than 1 foot total of clearance to go through that death trap. That is only 6" on either side. Truck driver are freaking out, either as the approach the restricted lane and running off the highway before they get to it People that only know how to drive cars should restrain themselves from talking about that which they know nothing about. I understand that I can't fix other people's ignorance.
As for all the barrels and lane changes on the southbound side, I won't even go that way coming home on my commute. I have found a way to bypass the southbound bypass as it is treacherous to drive through there after dark.
If you, or anyone else for that matter, has experience driving across country, in cities, different highways, you know that this is not uncommon. A lot of places, especially on the east coast, are tight for big trucks and can be quite intimidating for a rookie driver, and maybe even experienced drivers in some spots.
The road surface in that area is not the best IMO. I am thinking maybe the road shifted a truck and caused the driver to lose control, maybe. Depending on the weight, size and how it's loaded, any truck can be made to shift positions, by weather, road surfaces, driver behavior and other things. Drivers know this and allow for it usually. But a new driver may not know these things whether by inexperience or new to that area.
Many hundreds/thousands of trucks pass through there with no problem so why did these four have a problem I wonder.

Again, & again, & again......
IMO it is the drivers not the configuration of the construction area. Follow directions.

I wonder how many trucks make it through unscathed, might be the drivers at fault?
