Jail time for using wrong gender pronoun

California health care workers who “willfully and repeatedly” decline to use a senior transgender patient's “preferred name or pronouns” could face punishments ranging from a fine to jail time under a newly signed law.

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed the legislation last week.

The sponsor, Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener, has argued adamantly that nobody is going to be criminally prosecuted for using the wrong pronoun.

“It’s just more scare tactics by people who oppose all LGBT civil rights and protections,” he said in a statement last month.

But the language seemingly allows for the possibility, however remote.

The bill itself is aimed at protecting transgender and other LGBT individuals in hospitals, retirement homes and assisted living facilities. The bill would ensure those facilities accommodate transgender people and their needs, including letting them decide which gender-specific bathroom they prefer to use.

Its come to passing government legislation to identify someone by the correct pronoun or else.

I thought the lack of good paying industry jobs here on the eastern shore is a bit more important than correctly calling someone Mr. or Miss.

I've lived a very very long time and these 1st 17 years of the 21th Century have been something else!

SMH! I don't care how much lipstick you put on a pig: a pig is still a pig, a man is man and a woman is a woman. You can NEVER change that, no matter how many surgeries you have.
Homosexuality is NOT normal. I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just not NORMAL. Look up the word in the dictionary.
It's not normal if you're a Creationist or Darwinist.

This is part of what's wrong with our country today. The government telling us we have to put up with trash like this. Always someone wanting everybody to accept their way of life. No matter how sick it is. Accept you and put up with you? No way in hell.
