Pregnant school teacher disappears days before classes begin

COLUMBIA, Md. —A popular Howard County school teacher who is four months pregnant has disappeared days before the first day of classes.

Laura Wallen, 31, is a teacher at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia. Montgomery County police and Wallen's father and sister have searched her condo in Olney, looking for clues.

"It has totally torn our world apart. It's like a TV drama you wish you could shut off, but you can't," Wallen's father, Mark Wallen, said.

Wallen's sister, Jennifer Kadi, might have been one of the last people to make contact with her since she disappeared.
