Tesla's Long-Awaited, More Affordable Model 3 To Arrive Friday

The first-ever mass-market Tesla should roll out of the factory this week.

CEO Elon Musk tweeted late Sunday that the company's Model 3 car "passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule. Expecting to complete SN1 on Friday," using an abbreviation for serial number one.
Musk also tweeted that production would increase "exponentially," with 100 cars in August, more than 1,500 in September and 20,000 per month in December. Musk also announced a July 28 "handover party" for the first thirty buyers of the Model 3.

Eventually this company may actually turn a profit.
Amazing how the so-called value of the company is huge (stock value) but it has yet to show a profit.

Could it be that they continue to dump massive amounts of cash into R&D to create Spacex and a boring machine to build a tunnel under Los Angles?

Just because the product doesn't appeal to you or the typical eastern shore dweller, doesn't mean that it isn't a good product. 80% of the population in the US lives in an urban area well suited for electric vehicles. BTW, regular gas is $3.99/gal. in San Francisco today. Electric vehicles look pretty good there and the population is close to million people in SF.

4:13 Musk needs the write off for taxes. SpaceX is destroying the competition!

That stock will take down a lot of people when he once again fails to deliver on his promises. See the recent article in the Automotive News about his factory. It is the former Nummi plant that was the joint venture of Toyota and GM that produced Corollas and Vibes. He has so many employees they are selling each other parking places and starting fights over them between shifts. The number of employees producing a minimal number of cars is staggering. 500,000 units? Annually? No way!

Yeah, that Spacex ain't worked once. Never gonna get off the ground or return and land on a barge floating in the ocean.

Salisbury should be so lucky to have a company that has grown so large that it has nowhere for its employees to park. Plenty of abandon office buildings and open parking space around here.

Remind me again how much he is subsidized by our tax dollars...

8:38 PM - I hope that was sarcasm. The first successful barge landing of the SpaceX Falcon was on Apr 8, 2016.

Most Tesla owners seem to like their cars, which is fine.

There are 6 Tesla recharge spots behind the mall; never saw one in use.

And the abiding question with all of the recharge spots of any sort that are out in public - Who is paying for the electricity?

Electric cars? Really? They don't just don't understand that the batteries are re-charged with electric generated with fossil fuel or oil. Really?

8:51 am, there's been a few there, sometimes 2 at a time. Who's paying for the electricity? YOU ARE every time you pay your electric bill! The owners skate for free!

Feel better now?
