A Viewer Writes: Mail Tampering In Salisbury

I have now heard multiple reports of mail removed from mailboxes, mail and packages opened and left in the street. I'd appreciate it if you'd write a post and ask if others have had any problems. (The was over the past few days) in the vicinity of the University. It's being reported to postal authorities. Some victims may have reported to local law enforcement or not realized the serious nature of postal theft/tampering.

In one instance I'm aware of outgoing mail was opened. In ours, it was an incoming package.

Live in Salisbury and this was a problem last Christmas, and still is. Packages left on porches and front steps by delivery were taken ripped open by thieves contents stolen, boxes left behind at the houses. It was reported, nothing was done. Guess banning chain link fences in residential neighborhoods is more of a priority in Salisbury, as opposed to theft. When is the next election????

There's no crime so fences are not needed here. So just head downtown for a cocktail.

Da bury is what's happening , crime and more crime , get out , sell your property move to Delaware , Wicomico just as bad almost , 13 % of the population responsible for 95% of the crime , wonder why?

Tampering with the US Postal service mail is a class one felony. If any of you idiot peeps doing this read this, just know, if caught you could spend more time in prison (not jail) than robbing a house. Don't drop the soap!

13% of the population of Salisbury is over 5000 people. You think that there are 5000 criminals in Salisbury, committing these crimes? Are there even 5000 crimes?

If there were the Boy Mayor would never let you find out.

I was told by the post office that they won't do anything because they consider it petty and a hassle more than anything. They said they only prosecute for "big" crimes. Salisbury sucks

Um nope. 13% of the population of Salisbury is 5000 people = around 70,000 people. Salisbury population is approx. 30,000. stay in school.

Had the same problem years ago on Middleneck Dr. Solved it by getting a PO Box. Since then, we left the 'bury and we have no problem with mail in the box.

This has been a problem all over the country and it is just getting worse. I stopped leaving anything in my box to be picked up years ago and I live in a nice area. Anything I can do to make things more difficult for thieves I will do.
