High School Student Realizes His Trump T-Shirt Was Edited In His Yearbook

A school in New Jersey is being accused of censoring students in the annual yearbook after one student noticed someone had edited his class photo to remove the Trump logo on his t-shirt.

Grant Berardo wore a shirt that said TRUMP: Make America Great Again for school picture day in the fall of 2016. His photo in the school’s electronic ID system and the proofs he was presented with feature his shirt as-is, but when he received his yearbook, the logo had been removed.

Looks like the company that produced the yearbooks has to redo all the yearbooks, or return money for said yearbooks to the whole school. Hit their wallet and they won't make the same mistake again!

It didn't just happen, somebody ordered it to happen, as in the yearbook publisher or the school administration/board of education. My guess is that it was the latter, as editing the photo is an extra step that decreases the profits of the publisher.

Should reimburse all students for the cost and then have to republish the yearbooks free of charge. Could lead to a major lawsuit since it violates freedom of speech / expression. No dress code mandated for these pictures.

A political T-Shirt has no place in a high school yearbook. I'm sure the school had a policy against wearing such when the pictures were taken and submitted. It was appropriate to edit out the printed matter from his shirt. The alternate solution would have been to reject the photo from publication. I'm sure he would have liked that even less.

1:31 It's not up to you whether it should be there or not. Bet you would have been ok if it was Obama or Hillary on it. Get over yourself.

2:01 I bet you are one of the ones on here always crying about free speech. It's okay as long as it suits your agenda.

Students should have been told in advance that any shirt with a slogan/cartoon/words on it would not be permitted in the formal yearbook photos. The fact that it was done without the students' or parents' knowledge is what makes it wrong. Re-do the yearbooks.

Remember when the yearbook photos were with women in off-the-shoulder, gauzy gowns and men in tuxedos?
