Baltimore County Council Tables Immigration Bill

The Baltimore County Council has tabled a controversial measure that would require the Baltimore County Detention Center to screen for illegal immigrants.

Council members voted Monday night to table County Bill 32-17, a measure that opponents called flawed and racist.

The legislation is backed by the three Republicans on the County Council, including Todd Crandell, who said the bill is modeled after ones already adopted in Frederick and Harford counties. Crandell said the bill calls for teaming up with federal officials to enforce existing immigration laws.

"The Republican bill would have cost the county millions and spread fear throughout the county, so I think the council did the right thing, by moving on," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said.

Wrong, all wrong. Refusing to enforce existing immigration laws? Can't these city "Fathers" be arrested for that?

I'm not sure about the law but it seems to me that order would have to come from the mayor so put his butt in jail.

Quit giving them Tax dollars received outside of Baltimore County / Baltimore City and you will see immediate change or those areas being evacuated and turned into a waste land, more than they are now.
