LEARN HISTORY TODAY: 13 Days

Kennedy & Kruschchev 1961

By Thornton Crowe

We had no idea until much later just how close to destruction we came during that October in 1962...

In the last year, many of us have been inundated with talk about Russia and their possible influence in the 2016 General Election but what most fail to understand, this talk by the Democrats and media is highly dangerous. In fact, it puts us all in grave danger and can be construed as a real National Security risk as we’ve seen from the incidents where Russian destroyers and fighter jets have ‘buzzed’ our coastlines and ships since this irresponsible banter began to go into overdrive.

Are Democrats willing to risk another Cold War in order to avoid the ugly truth they lost the last election because of their candidate of choice?

The real Cold War was very scary for America; however, nothing ever came close to a meltdown like thirteen days in October of 1962. We were faced with a midterm election and voters were faced with some decisions. President John F. Kennedy’s policies (much like Trump and Reagan policies) were producing some success but there was still trepidation in DC about the election.

Attorney General Robert Kennedy
All these upsets were quickly quashed when on October 16th, less than a month away from election day, the Russians started moving nukes into the Cuba area with Fidel Castro’s consent. By this point, the Bay of Pigs Invasion was already a huge disastrous history with Cuba where the CIA’s Castro assassination attempt was foiled badly (and very publicly.) Therefore, it was not unlikely the Cuban regime would be reluctant to aid the country’s biggest foe, Russia.

During this time, tensions between Russia’s leader, Nikita Kruschchev and President Kennedy were high but in a stand-off mode due to a gentleman's agreement between the two of them. However, when the confrontation over the Cuban Missile Crisis began, it bumped into a new level of nuclear fear we hadn’t experienced before or since. The negotiations were intense and often led to the President to entertain engagement a nuclear war. After all, he saw this as a personal betrayal on Khrushchev's part in addition to putting nukes that close the US coastlines. After being sent away by his brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, to ‘cool off,’ the planning and execution of a peaceful stand down was negotiated.

It’s all fun and games until the nuclear warheads start heading towards the US Coastlines

Many myth spinners were not even alive when this began and yet, because our education system doesn’t actually teach United States History, many remain ignorant to the situation, which was the real threat from Russia. Instead, these misinform, under-educated people prefer to promote a very dangerous rhetoric that could very well have grave repercussions for everyone. Most here aren’t aware of the real threats nuclear nations face and have not one clue about the real fall-out of such incendiary banter. People who represent us in Congress are shortsighted or they are trading on the ignorance which permeates America at this point in time.

Pelosi & Schumer
It would serve you well to educate yourselves and understand fully the world that’s being pulled over your eyes before it’s too late and there is no be-back.

A suggestion is to look up the Cuban Missile Crisis to see what true Russian intervention is about rather than following the so-called Media and their leaders off the cliff to the abyss of stupidity. While these taunts are designed to marginalize President Trump, they are only inciting others to become our enemies, thus putting us in a very critical position - both economically and militarily.

Nuclear war is no laughing matter - it has irreversible effects on any population. Look at Nagasaki or Hiroshima at the end of the Second World War to understand this cold reality. Nuclear fallout is horrific and it's half-life is decades, possibly centuries.

Why are you allowing Liberals to put yourself (and your families) in such peril over something as temporary as an election? Is this really what you, the average American, want?

Expecting millennials to know history? They don't even know basic math. They don't care what happens tomorrow or next week because they're told to live in the moment.

People don't want to know about history because they'd rather remain stupid. Ideologies mean more than actuality.

Millennials think they know everything 1218 but they don't know squat. If you've ever witnessed some of the kids over at SU you'd be shocked at how much they don't know about the world or history. But they'll come on here and make stupid comments pretending like they know it all. Comical.

Isn't that true for every generation when they're in their twenties? They think they know all but really know nothing? This millennial bunch is just more public about their ignorance.

I recently read where a Russian officer REFUSED to launch missles ...against his orders to do so. Don't know who he was, but we have a lot for which to thank him.
