A Comment Worthy Of A Post: Could It Be True?
Joe a few weeks ago you published a post about the WCSO having bought motorcycles. It seems as they have claimed their first victim, one of the deputies went down near the Shorebirds Stadium and has a very bad broken ankle and some other injuries. It is rumored he may have to go on disability.

The same could happen in a vehicle , except maybe worse.
This is a serious question: what good reason is there to have motorcycles and not squad cars? I understand that they're fun and probably cheaper but it seems a lot more dangerous and I don't care to fuel their love for Harley's with my taxes.
3:52 the point is to spend money and waste it, so the cops get all the toys they want like the fire palace... That is all it is, a waste of money, becasue now what, we have to pay for him being hurt, have to pay to fix or replace the motorcycle... But remember, it is all for the kids!!!!
Remember, Sheriff Lewis was held in contempt of court and do you see him in jail? NO you don't... Also, remember cops get paid to ruin lives and to steal you money, becasue they to are wards of the state and they are also welfare recipients, since they get paid with tax money and who gets paid to steals my money...

There are instances where an accident might have the road jammed up and it is easier to get a bike thru to help clear it out. Still not sure it is needed on the shore but there are times they have their use.
I am sure these guys went to some sort of cop bike school but nothing is better than years of road experience.Lewis never owned a bike in his life until the Harley craze took over now he zooms up and down the road like he is King Tut. Things happen fast on motorcycles and age and reaction time play a big part.I hope the cop who had the accident is ok and will recover. That is a very heavy bike to handle in all types of road conditions not counting phone phobic drivers. I think its mostly a image thing and i gotta have some because Worcester County has some.
Since when have we made disability decisions at the scene of a crash? Especially for a broken ankle...that's what physical therapy and rehab is for. It will take months to determine that. Save the rumors for the grade school girls.
why are so many down of deputies for riding bikes? if I remember correctly the bikes were purchased using seized monies so they didn't cost taxpayers money.
they train deputies at the stadium on these bikes so it may have been a training accident. any of you ever have a broken ankle? it's no fun.
6:11 - The Cop who fell seriously injured his leg, took a couple days off, then some time for PT. Has healed well and is fully functional. He has dozens of years of Harley experience (current bike is a special Harley LEO edition), but has had to unlearn, then relearn several moves that make one more proficient in this type environment. The training bikes are pieced together junkers they expect to be wrecked. The instructors are professional Police motorcycle training certified - as is the program. As a footnote, the injured officer is now back in the program for a second shot. A big factor for that is his years of bike experience.
As a rider I have seen many times the purpose of these Police Bikes.. They are there when we do Honor rides for our veterans and also to provide escorts for those who served our country and are now coming home.
Bikes were also used when then Candidate Trump came to our area. They ride ahead and cover the intersections so the passing motorcade / bike escort can pass safely without someone trying to cut out into the traffic. Once the escort has past the bikes race up to the next intersection.
They are safer for this because they can go by in the left lane quickly without taking up so much space as to risk colliding with a bike or vehicle in the right lane.
To see the look on the wounded warriors, and other veterans faces when they see a long line of bikes escorting them as a form of tribute for their service is priceless. It does so much for their families as well.
So many of these rides originate out of Wicomico County and before we had these bikes we had to rely on Worcester County to provide the escort. Even Capital Special Police send bikes down here to assist.
It may seem silly to you guys but its not Tax money and they do serve a very noble purpose. That at the very least make these bikes worth having in my humble opinion.
Why would a cop have to go on disability? Half of them are way overweight, so they can't chase anyone plus they never get out of their car except when they're off duty. I've broken more bones than I can count and can still run with the - well, you know.
Not commenting on the reasoning of bikes, but on money. For those that use the logic it is free money, confiscated from law breakers, This sounds like politicians saying it's a grant (free money), stole from taxpayers. The thing is, needs or wants. The confiscated money could be dumped in the kitty to help out the drained taxpayer. No wonder so many people are in debt, not having a clue how to manage money. Again, I am not knocking police bikes, just thinking of money management. After all, we are not a wealthy county or state. Some larger areas may have money to spread around. If you don't have that privilege, spend wisely on needs.
This website is a bunch of shit. And the comments on it never have anything to back them up. How about wishing the police officer a quick recovery? And disability rumor? The word rumor describes that perfectly. I personally know this police officers family. Hard working, and very loving. dont talk shit about people you don't really know. Thats the problem with this world, y'all have so much to say behind a computer screen. Spreading hate, lies and negativity.
The bottom line is that Mike The Midget Lewis sucks as a Sheriff. He will never have my vote again. The man is as fake as they come. The boys on the bikes are some of HIS boys. 95% of the sworn can not stand working for him. Time for a new Sheriff. The man botched the Foxwell case and lied on the stand about the Ray Lewis case. He has no business with a badge. Keep drinking the kool aid red necks. He is an embarrassment. I wonder why Denise stays with him. The man cheats on his wife you know he cheats us. Enough said. As a matter of fact one of the guys riding one of the bikes had the lowest traffic stats in the agency. WTF
I haven't read the comments, but horse patrols also drew a lot of attention some time back.I totally do not agree with horses being used by police, but motorcycles maybe.
Speaking of these bikes, how much is it costing tax payers to out fit each deputy for BIKE UNIFORMS? They are not going to share UNIFORMS. Why arnt the patrol cars which are parked in a huddle behind the dumpster of the Sheriffs Office up and running.??????????? Lots of unanswered questions.

What deputies are riding them? I wonder how they were trained for the use of these bikes in police work?

2 kinds of bikers. Those who have been down and those who will be down. Thats a fact, Jack.
The Harleys filled a pressing need....said no one ever.
It was on the Shorebirds lot and he was in training learning how to ride a Harley, his only prior experience was on a moped.

Sure you fall of the seat of your patrol car and break your leg. Or better yet of the barstool at the donut shop.

They probably did the Wor-Wic training weekend and proclaimed themselves "expert riders".
A neurosurgeon told me he would like to have one, but has seen many times what the results of a crash does.

Accidents happen... Get over it!!
A lot of bike accidents are really caused by vehicles around the bike.
Why would a cop have to go on disability? Half of them are way overweight, so they can't chase anyone plus they never get out of their car except when they're off duty. I've broken more bones than I can count and can still run with the - well, you know.
maybe they should have started them out on tricycles until they learned how to ride them? would be better for everyone!

Unfortunately, that is very true in our world.
