If the State of Maryland has their way the lower shore will be full of section 8, criminal, Blacks, illegal aliens and every other group the Anne Arundel, PG, Montgomery Baltimore and anywhere waterfront from the C&D Canal to The Potomac River! then bus them down here build a wall at the C& D Canal The foot of the Bay Bridge and Virginia would go along with blowing up the Bridge Tunnel, an overhead transportation system straight to Ocean City high enough fr boat traffic and blow up the old rickety drawbridge and a wall at the Delaware line. and problem solved! I'm not saying a plan like this is in existence, but I'll bet they think about it everyday! Nothing they can't live without down here anyway!

Section 8 isn't such a horrible thing!

There are perfectly adequate housing in most homeless shelters even in OC. Why do we need to build BRAND NEW places for them. Did they get a raise for performance or something?

I would prefer affordable housing for working people rather than more Section 8.

There is more than enough Section 8 Housing around here.

Do you really think that you have a say in this? A landlord with 35 units at an avg. of $900/mo. makes $378,000.00/yr. 60 units at $900/mo. = 648,000.00/yr and 100 units at $900/mo = 1,080,000.00.

Guess who makes significant political contributions? Not you!

Oh yes please. There's nothing I enjoy more than working full time only to have the government steal...sorry, I mean "Tax" my income so D'Kwan, his six baby mommas and nine of his offspring suck on the welfare tit I'm paying for. Yes, I'd just LOVE more of that.

Who's paying for the vouchers ..me..Why would I want a home that I'm trying to improve to be inundated by slumlord and garbage neighbours..I have a family next to me now who has shopping carts and untagged car in the yard..

10:05 - let's have another drink of socialist liberal kool-aid now!
Section 8 degrades the property value of the entire area - the recipients don't have a stake in the property and treat it like trash...I see it all the time. It should be a short-term help - not a lifestyle.

Forcing these tenants on to landlords is a great way to drive their business elsewhere....unless they want to be slum-lords in the first place and make money off the dole recipients!

Too many rentals on the shore as it is.

Section 8 just prices working poor families out of the rental market. Why should a property owner settle for $800 a month from a stable working family when they can rent to subsidized jobless tenants for a few hundred more dollars a month. Then people wonder why the neighborhood goes to sh*t....

Build it and they will come.

to 4:28....your estimates are a bit low.
There are a couple of lawyers here in salisbury that have over 1000 rental houses between them.
There are several OTHER slumlords with 200-300 rental dumps and trash houses that they rent for $900-1300 a month.
And you BETTER pay on time.
Front door falling off? Furnace not working? Broken water pipes? Roof leaking? You don't like it, get your ass out. Just make sure the rent is paid.
Salisbury has one of the highest rental percentages in the entire nation.
Yes, we have slumlords and I'll name them at request. If they were real men, they'd name themselves. But slumlords like to slink around in the shadows and act like they are barely making it on $500,000 to million a month. Greed is the driving force in their lives.
These houses, many 2 bedroom dumps with one bathroom, were built 50-80 years ago and have been paid in full for decades. Each year in salisbury, these slumlords engage in "trading" these properties to show tax "losses" and reduce tax liabilities. Then complain about how much reg's cost them...
Its a real life Monopoly game for them. But if they were forced to pay their help $15 an hour, oh MY GOD!!!, their whole world caves in!!
Now, go out there and make sure the Massa get his money.
Don't think what I say is true? Ride down Isabella St and ask how many are HOMEOWNERS. Or Church st. Or West Rd. Or Roger St. Or Delaware Ave. or dozens of other Salisbury areas.
They are DOMINATED by slumlords.
Keep cheering.

Bobby Zirkin is all for these housing vouchers until they start moving in next door to him.

Every politician that votes for this should be forced to have welfare thugs move in on both sides of them where ever they move and for the rest of their lives.
