So let me see if I understand how the system works. I work full time and have dental insurance through my employer yet I can't afford to have anything more than basic dental, cleanings etc because that's about the extent of my coverage. I need a root canal and a crown which will run me about $800 out of pocket. But...if I quit my job and go on welfare it's all free???? Man did I have the American all ass backwards.
Yeah, it is stupid that dental insurance is separate from medical (vision also). But those insurance companies have to earn more money and don't want to cover much so they are in charge.
Yeahhhh...but actually they have a valid point as far as the everyday insurance/dental care system works. But, as usual, the average American idiot is not seeing the bigger picture. Think outside your parents basement.
I have no dental health insurance but I am thankful I can afford to go to the dentist at will and I don't have to wait for one day out of the year. I am also thankful these people get a chance for care, no guarantee, at least once a year.
You d rather pay the 800.00 if you saw what is out there you d b sick. I went out there one year and turned right back around. No way it could be sanitary or clean. Also the lines and possibly not being seen is not even worth it.
1:22 How about you educate yourself before talking about something you know nothing about?Medicaid does offer dental coverage but they certainly do NOT pay for cosmetic dentistry such as crowns! They cover basics like cleaning and fillings ,and extractions if needed. No root canals or crowns! And if you did have to use dental coverage through Medicaid, good luck finding a local dentist who accepts it AND is taking new patients.Several years ago a young boy in Maryland died because he had a bad tooth and his mother was unable to find a dentist who would accept Medicaid dental. In the year 2017 no one, especially a child, should die from a bad tooth.

Basic dental care should be a part of health care. To keep it separate doesn't make much sense.

By separating dental and vision into additional coverages, the medical part can be sold for less to those who can't afford what all 3 would cost.

1:22 Let me know where I can get a root canal & a crown for $800. That sure is a bargain to what I have paid!

They said $800 out of pocket. They have dental insurance. Same amount as I pay for a crown and root canal with mine.
