Reuters is reporting that Gander Mountain, the St. Paul-based outdoor retailer, could file for bankruptcy as early as this month.
Gander Mountain is working with a financial advisory firm and law firm to prepare to file for bankruptcy, according to Reuters’ sources. The sources were not identified due to the situation being confidential.
Gander Mountain operates more than 150 stores across the United States, including six in the Twin Cities metro area.
None of the parties involved have commented on the matter as of Friday.

Another store I don't shop because it's too expensive.
Gun sale were keeping them going and people employed. But with all the gun restrictions regulations and laws it became to expensive. Sad the fascist left ruined this company and soon will put thousands out of work again.

I can tell you right now that the Gander Mountain is absolutely TERRIBLE at using local outdoors 'demographics' to stock their stores. For instance, Delaware is only minutes up the road, yet they hardly have a Slug gun on the shelf nor do they have an adequate selection of slug shells. More and more people are getting into muzzle loading, yet they have a crap selection of muzzle loading supplies. I can't even get the supplies I need to reload my metallic cartridges. I guarantee that every store is stocked exactly the same with total disregard to locally demanded products. That just sets them up for failure. Go to a Bass Pro or Cabela's and look at their selection and variety - they know what they are doing.

This is a rich-people problem. Everything there is for luxury. They'd have more business if it was a more simple place instead of trying to be a fashion company. All I need is my licenses, bait and a few more things for my tackle box. I don't need to pay for a brand-name anything as we all know that the cheap stuff works just as well.
Doesn't surprise me. All the signs of a business going under has been there for the last two years. I can't believe its taken this long.
Now boating and hunting supplies are going to be even harder to shop for in Salisbury. Its sad one will now have to go online for fishing supplies, or they will have to go to Easton, or OC to get them.
