BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A mother is outraged after her third grader came home from school with three of his teeth missing. She says his elementary school performed a dental procedure she never knew about.
A Baltimore City mom is looking for answers: Why did the school allow serious dental work — without making a single phone call to parents.
9-year-old Michael is still brought to tears by the pain. He’s now missing three teeth — pulled out by a dental program visiting his school. His mother, Shanda Flemming, tells WJZ she never was notified that the procedure was happening.
“And then two on this side. One top and one bottom,” says Flemming.
Baltimore City Schools says Flemming signed a permission slip, but Flemming thought it was for routine cleanings.

She signed the permission slip but "thought it was for routine cleanings". I wonder what it said on that permission slip. Maybe she did not read the fine print.
No report on whether or not Mom signed a release at the beginning of the school year.
Pulling primary teeth is almost exclusively done only when the teeth are in seriously bad shape, with cavities extending below the gum line, with gum disease present, both indications of dental neglect.
The article states that the child had a dental appointment on Monday, but was that a preexisting appointment, or one Mom made after her son came home with fewer teeth?
These are questions that should have been answered before this article was published or aired, to give a better perspective to readers and listeners.
I seriously doubt any dentist worth their salt would pull a kids teeth that did not need it.
Would she be more upset if she had to pay for it?
But, they should have at least called her. That's simple courtesy.
I'm sure this story, put out by liberal WJZ, is done to get sympathy for some group or another.
"Dental program visiting his school" means she just thought it was FREE dental care. That's all she saw and cared about. She and her child got what they paid for and what she gave permission for. Either they were baby teeth that needed to be removed to allow for permanent teeth to come in, or they were rotten and a risk to his health. She should be thankful for the "free" program that provided dental care to her child, but nooooo. Even when it's free, she still complains because she can't understand or read what she signs. Shame on her for being a negligent parent.
3:50. Hit the mark. My wife works in health care and she finds the least compliant and least appreciative are those on Medicaid, i.e. Not paying for it.
No Child Left Behind, Common Core. All communist marxist idealogy being taught to our children. This is what you get when you want the state raising your kids.
I was so annoyed at the beginning of the school year when I could sign up for free dental care for my children through the school. They did not ask our income or insurance coverage. Just free free free. No wonder our country is in so much debt.
