Many Arrested Inauguration Day Protesters Will Face Felony Rioting Charges

Most of the approximately 230 protesters arrested on Inauguration Day will be charged with felony rioting, federal prosecutors said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The office said most of those arrested will be released without having to post bail and must return to court in February.

A first group of 10 men appeared in Superior Court just before 3 p.m., and their lawyer entered a not guilty plea on their behalf. A judge released all of them on the condition they not get re-arrested in the District of Columbia.

Madonna??? For terroristic threats???

There is a difference between rioting (setting fires, breaking windiws, etc.) and effective peaceful protest. Those perpetrating destruction and violence should be arrested and charged, regardless of who the president is. No accountability is part of what's wrong with the country.

And put the good Judge Jeanine on them.

Please, instead of just shouting lock them up, just do it.

Make them help clean up the mess they made. Why should prisoners and convicted felons have to do it?

Her speech is said to be protected by the 1st amendment, because you have to prove the speaker has intention of carrying out the intent. HOWEVER, Madonna has looked at several charges in the past because she seems to think she's above the law! Her tweet F" the President and F" the secret service, her unwillingness to follow the law when she performs( she's even videoed laughing when Police officers warned her people they would arrest her if she masturbated on stage). She's obviously not mentally stable which to me is a pretty good indicator someone is capable of carrying out a threat. No respect for the law!!! I think her history shows she's capable of doing exactly what she says!! I wish they would make an example out of her!!

I’m not sure about the protesters serving jail time but I know one man with small hands who should be arrested for mingling with the enemy. Of course, many will turn a blind eye but people speaking their mind are somehow at fault. These "patriots" as they call themselves should remember the violent protests are country was founded upon.
