The principal at a lower Manhattan high school was beaten to a pulp by a student on Monday when he told the teen to remove his headphones, sources said.
Principal Matthew Tossman of Manhattan Early College School for Advertising, which is inside Murry Bergtraum High School, spotted 18-year-old Luis Penzo with his headphones blasting in the hallway around noon, according to police sources.
Tossman asked Penzo to turn down the music, and Penzo not only refused, the 18-year-old student cold-cocked the principal.
Penzo continued to pounce on Tossman, socking him several times in the face, causing swelling and lacerations around both of the principal’s eyes.

Putting that senseless, brutal attack aside for a moment, this is the quote from the Department of Education:
The DOE released a statement that said the NYPD “immediately responded to a concerning incident” that took place at the school.
A "concerning" incident?
The correct term is "disconcerting".
And this comes from the top of the DOE.
Typical thug
Arrest and expel.
Back in the '60-'70 era this didn't happen here locally, but I believe in my heart if it were to happen, another student or more would have jumped in to help the principal even if the thug were their friend. It didn't happen because we knew the adult would kick our rear and I have seen that happen. Things are sad today.
The larger issue is abject loss of respect for authority - these heathens have grown accustomed to doing as they chose with no repercussions. It will be interesting to see how the dynamic changes once Mr. Trump is elected.

I am an old guy now.
But when I was in High School the Principal was always a real man.
Not a feminine boy, but a man.
None of us would have attacked the Principal.
Ever.
