A female Chicago police officer who was beaten to the point of hospitalization Wednesday morning says she had the option of lethal force but did not use it for fear of public backlash.
The officer was one of three beaten and then hospitalized after she “encountered a man that police allege was violent and under the influence of drugs.”
According to ABC 7, the incident occurred after officers responded to a car accident “at Roosevelt and Cicero on the city’s West Side.” Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson said the female officer told him she knew she could have used lethal force, but she chose not to out of concern for what the department and her family would have to go through.
Johnson said, “She thought she was going to die. She knew that she should shoot this guy, but she chose not to, because she didn’t want her family or the department to have to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news.”

Simple: She should not be a police officer.
"I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6"
"Who's going home tonight"
Just a few thoughts
Should have unloaded you damn gun on him
Lethal force where lethal force is necessary to prevent injury and death.
I beat me and see what happens I will shoot till I run out of bullets
12:32 Correct.
What a cop did her job correctly? Amazing! No weapons on the perp. Policing is dangerous for this reason! Can't give an ass whooping with three other cops then no need to be one! Kudos to the officer!
4:14 really, are you that stupid.
Correct 6:51....How do you justify use of deadly force when the suspect: Has no weapon, When the suspect is outnumbered 3 to 1, When the suspect is just using physical force? They needed to hit him with mace and tazer....and or Baton at his knees
A. Many people die from physical force. It isn't only guns which kill.
B. Fighting someone on drugs is often impossible as often, they feel nothing and don't slow down.
C. How does the officer know there isn't a weapon?
D. Psa: put your hands on an officer and expect to be shot.
