#Hermine closing 4 state parks

Based on the latest weather forecast from state emergency management officials, the following actions are being taken at four waterfront state parks: Assateague, Janes Island, Pocomoke River and Point Lookout:

--The day-use areas will remain closed on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 3
--Campgrounds will be evacuated by noon on Saturday, Sept. 3
--All campers in on Friday evening will be notified of need to be out of the park by noon on Saturday
--Park staff will make public notifications, as they are able, through the reservation system and social media
--Park staff will work with Maryland Natural Resources Police and other authorities to enforce the closure according to established protocols.
--All park areas will remain closed until further notice

These actions are being taken out of an abundance of caution, in light of the forecast for a long-duration weather event, with sustained tropical storm force winds for 24 hours and wind gusts up to 50 mph for St. Mary's and Worcester counties.

"...These actions are being taken out of an abundance of caution..."

These actions are being taken out of an abundance of common sense because the public doesn't seem to have any these days.
