A Republican congressman is going after the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for having almost 200 full-time interior designers.
House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Jeff Miller thinks the designers are a significant factor in the troubled agency’s penchant for wasting tax dollars, and offering inadequate care to veterans
The Florida Republican — who has devoted much of his tenure as chairman to exposing waste, fraud and abuse in the VA — points to boondoggles like the department’s newest hospital in Aurora, Colo.
The Aurora facility inexplicably went more than $1 billion over budget, and the contractor walked off the job, blaming VA mismanagement. The hospital, which won’t be completed until 2018, features a glass concourse the size of a football field. Plans included imported Brazilian wood, $10 million in landscaping, and 70-foot-high glass walls.

The entire federal government is a den of thieves and corruption.
The Congress people dish out these contracts to crony buddies.
Same for building the roads. It takes Americans forever to build a road! The area under construction will sit idle sometimes for weeks or months at a time. I believe these are other examples of a contractor "milking the system" of our money.
I'm a veteran. All that I want from my VA is good and timely care. Building architecture and decor don't deliver that. Only good staff, good equipment and adequate funding do.
This makes me sick!!! VA issued me hearing aids but continues to deny claim for hearing loss WTF
10:29 AM - You can see where that funding has gone. And how many have died because it was used for decorating and competing for VA facility design prizes and upper staff bonuses.
Who says Democrats won't build a wall? 70 foot wall sounds like a wall to me!
Get someone like Jack Welch or Carl Icahn to shake it up and get refocused on treating the vets First!
