DPI Seeks Communications Manager

Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI), the 1,800-member non-profit trade association for the meat chicken industry in Delaware, the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia, announces the creation of a new staff position, Communications Manager, and seeks interested applicants for the job.

Working out of the DPI offices near Georgetown, Delaware, the Communications Manager will work under the direction of the Executive Director to implement, direct, and maintain a comprehensive communications and public relations program to benefit the Delmarva chicken industry.

The Communications Manager will have, among other duties, responsibility for DPI newsletters and other member communications, social media messages, the DPI website, news releases, and responses to news media inquiries.

Additionally, the person will have oversight in the development of promotional materials, graphic and oral presentations to external audiences, and representation of the chicken industry at various functions such as state and county agricultural fairs.

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus two or more years of professional communications employment. Required skills include cogent writing, photography, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and existing and emerging social media, including website development and maintenance.

Knowledge of the chicken industry and graphic design experience are desired.

In addition to submitting a résumé, including educational, employment, and community service experiences, job candidates should include three references, writing samples, and salary expectations.
