JUST IN: U.S. Navy Blue Angels jet crashes in Tennessee

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WKRN) – A U.S. Navy Blue Angels jet crashed Thursday afternoon in Smyrna ahead of their weekend air show at the city’s airport.

The La Vergne fire chief confirmed the accident happened around 3 p.m. near Weakly Lane, not far from the bowling alley.

LifeFlight helicopters from Vanderbilt University Medical Center were called to the scene.

Condolences. At least the Thunderbird pilot ejected safely, and the jet crashed without casualties.

God bless all these pilots do for our Country and the risks they take, and that extends to all our Armed Forces Personnel! You people represent the "Gold" of our Country!

Sorry for the loss but I must say those planes are from the early 80's.
