BERLIN – Members of the Berlin Fire Company are hoping a new event will restore the organization’s standing in the community following several years of discord.
Now that the multimillion dollar harassment lawsuit against the fire company has been settled and its relationship with the Town of Berlin is on the mend following a temporary funding cut, the Berlin Fire Company (BFC) is hosting a “Pig Pickin’ and Clam Bake” May 14.
“It’s been a bad time,” fire company member John Holloway said. “We want to open our doors and invite the community in.”
Tickets to the event, which is set to take place at the fire house from 4-10 p.m., are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Attendees will be treated to pulled pork and side dishes as well as live music from Tranzfusion and beer from Burley Oak. Casino games, raffles and a Chinese auction will also be offered.

The lawsuit may be settled, but the brains that created the issue are still around.
Now coming from a neophyte like Holloway, this is supposed to mean something? It was his wife, the infamous hen, that stated the FD didn't owe anyone the respect a few years ago, when the M&CC asked for cooperation. That bunch has never changed, never will. Fitzgerald, another one, along with Trimbles, do some research, they don't care whatsoever about the Town, it's about them.
AMEN!!!!! The BFD expects everyone to just forget their arrogant attitude, and how bad they have treated the citizens! NOT! How about starting by presenting a reasonable budget to the council. Gee Williams will keep them in check. FFEMTP10 Retired
The BFD has always been about themselves. Now why Holloway and his mouthpiece wife are the spokespeople speaks volumes. He has never been a fireman, and Kim has never been a friend to any organisation.
