Marc Kilmer: Last Night's Work Session

Marc Kilmer, Wicomico County Council

Last night, we held a work session on the county executive's capital program for the next fiscal year. The executive proposes to borrow $20.3 million and spend $3.893 million in general revenue for capital projects. Some of the proposed projects are $11 million for continued updating of the county's emergency radio system, $7.5 million for construction of a new W. Salisbury Elementary, $1.1 million for a new building for the Board of Elections, $200,000 for the expansion of athletic fields at the Henry Parker sports complex, and $589,000 for Morris Mill Dam improvements.

Speaking of the Board of Elections.. have the voter rolls been purged recently?
Or are they full of dead and distracted voters?

And they refuse to do it as well. Just ask them if it will be done before the upcoming elections, and they cry poverty and lack of manpower.
Get ready for another sham.

But, hey, a new $1.1m building? Well, they need the space to house all those dead voter records!

So BOE goes from a possible office in the ghetto that got rejected to a new million dollar building, why do they need such a large building if everything is "supposedly" going digital?

"Some of the proposed projects are $11 million for continued updating of the county's emergency radio system"

WOW - as a member of the fire service I can assure you that nothing is wrong with the radio system they currently use. There is no need for $2,000 portable radios for every volunteer and paid fire office in the fire department. They also put 4 of those $2,000 portable radios on every fire truck. $8,000 worth of portable radios on every fire truck? Then why does every volunteer Fireman need their own portable radio? If it's for communications then what are telephones for? This is a big joke!

823, you are on the wrong subject. The major subject here is the total ignorance from the board of elections to ensure that our election process remains pristine and pure.
Obviously, they don't want that, and neither do you.

For me, this superceeds any other resulting actions.

Nothing may be wrong with the system now, but the vendor does not have any more parts for it. So when it breaks, do you expect all the fireman, police, etc. to use their cell phones and have the dispatchers call every officer on the shift to tell them they have a call...sounds like you as a member of the fire service do not have all the information about the radio system
