A Philadelphia Police officer is lucky to be alive after he was shot multiple times in a shootout with a suspect in West Philadelphia late Thursday, police said.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Spruce and 60th Streets around 11:45 p.m.
"This is absolutely one of the scariest things I've ever seen," new Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said of video that captured the incident.
Ross said 33-year-old Officer Jesse Hartnett was driving through the intersection of 60th and Spruce Streets in West Philadelphia when suspect opened fire.
