Philadelphia Eagles release QB Tim Tebow

When the Eagles dealt Matt Barkley on Friday, it looked as though Tim Tebow's path to the 53-man roster was clear.

Unfortunately for him, Chip Kelly just wasn't impressed enough. Tebow was let go on Saturday during the final hours of roster downsizing, the team announced Saturday. ESPN first reported the cut.

Ultimately it wasn't about Barkley or Tebow winning a battle. It was about one of them looking like a pro-ready quarterback, and Kelly decided not give either a job. That doesn't mean he's locked into keeping only two quarterbacks. NFL Media's Rand Getlin says the team has interest in signing Christian Ponder, according to multiple sources. Ponder is expected to be cut or traded by the Oakland Raiders.

If he was a Crack dealer or a domestic violence person or a cheater they probably would have signed him. So much for good decent folks.

Pray the Lord's prayer said...

The Devil trying to unnerve Christians....

I don't get it. People say he's not a QB. However wherever he goes and plays he wins. Now they won't allow him to even play. But the have no problem with Brady or Winston.

Now I can go back to hating the Eagles.

More practice - less praying.

He just didn't do enough... He really should've taken it to another level and lit some votive candles in the end zone. Maybe hold a High Mass.
Or maybe just concentrate on being a better out-of-pocket passer.

A winner? He is 9 and 7 in games started in his career. Not the worst of all time but a long way from a winner. To compare him to Brady is totally insane.

I'd rather be a better person than football player.

if he can kill some dogs, beat up his girlfriend, get a couple duis, he can get a multimillion dollar contract. America does not like people like tebow

I think nfl teams are doing him a favor not signing him. As religious as he is, he should be in church on Sunday, not a football field. That way he can pray to be a real qb.

nonsense comments suggesting religion has anything to do with him getting cut. Ray Lewis practically had a church service on the filed every week. Nobody cut him. Ridiculous

This is exactly what the problem is. The Eagles and much of the NFL are afraid of having him because idiots like this might be offended after every touch down. Kelly says they are releasing him because he needs more experience. Funny how the are expecting to pick up a loser with no experience that is being cut by the Raiders. This guy has a worst record than Tebow! The anti-Christians who are in the minority win again because of political correctness.

I think you are right. We don't want to have a good role model for kids these days. Let just promote all the ones that get caught doing drugs, beating their partner or killing dogs. Lets put them at the top of the list of people who we want our kids to be like. In a few years we can scratch our heads and wonder what happened to our youth.

As long as the NFL shows up in my living room as scheduled I could care less what they do.Just because they play 90% of their games on Sunday they think they're a religion or something. Now watch somebody get in trouble as soon as the regular season starts.

Now he can go get a real job.

I guess praying to play well failed.
