OCEAN CITY —Recharge your life at the beach while you recharge your car at the convention center.
That’s the concept, as the city is looking to generate interest from electric car owners by installing three charging stations at the city lot just south of the convention center on 40th Street, a move inspired by the Tesla meet-up earlier this spring that generated plenty of tourism interest.
“It’s something that’s going to be growing in popularity,” said Councilman Wayne Hartman, who suggested the city participate in what Tesla calls it’s “Destination Charging Partner” program after talking with visitors at the April rally on the Boardwalk.
“With this, Tesla will put us on a mapper so people with Teslas can see us as a destination,” he said.

Just attracting stupid people. Who drives 200 miles and then waits 2 hours for a fill up?
Stupid people with Teslas.
"Who drives 200 miles and then waits 2 hours for a fill up?"
No more than 36 people. Do the math.
really? how long does this recharge take?
SOOO STUPID!
Maybe they go to the beach or spend money shopping or at a restaurant while their 100K cars charge. Sounds like you would rather attract poor people to OC. Oh wait, that is the trash that visits there now. No wonder people that can afford expensive cars go elsewhere.
A Tesla can get 170 miles of range from a supercharger is 30 minutes. They are also installing another charger that can be used on ANY electric vehicle, not just a Tesla.
I drive a Honda Fit EV and stay in Ocean City. You know how I charge? I go to Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth or to Surfside Place at the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk. I always spend money there. I could be spending it in Ocean City instead. This is not just about a few Tesla owners. This will encourages all EV drivers to spend their money here.
