If you have a disability in the U.S., you're twice as likely to be poor as someone without a disability. You're also far more likely to be unemployed. And that gap has widened in the 25 years since the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act was enacted.
"Every man, woman and child with a disability can now pass through once-closed doors into a bright new era of equality, independence and freedom," President George H.W. Bush said when he signed the bill into law on July 26, 1990.
The ADA banned discrimination based on disability and was intended to ensure equal opportunity in employment — as well as government services and public accommodations, commercial facilities and public transportation.
But it hasn't always worked that way, especially when it comes to expanding economic opportunity for the 58 million Americans with physical and mental disabilities.

How about a reevaluation of everyone who claims to be disabled? The Country is full of pathetic posers who suck hard on the public teat, making it even harder for the truly disabled. Root those people out, get them to work and providing tax revenue and you'll have more than enough money to make life easier and more fulfilling for those who are really in need.

Maybe, but I don't travel the whole country so I don't know what really goes on out of my eyesight. It was very difficult for me to get my disability. It took me years and appeals. I finally had to get a lawyer and give him a big chunk of my money to be finally recognized as disabled.
There may very well be people who fake being disabled out there. They must be very good at it if they are getting any benefits. I had numerous doctor reports, surgical reports,Everything they asked me for and still had to fight to get it.
And the amount I receive will in no way let me lead a life of leisure. If the poverty level is 11,000 a year, I think I am two or three thousand above that, gross that is. I still have to pay for medicare out of that and a prescription medical plan.
If I wasn't married and had to pay rent, food, etc., I would have to live in a tent somewhere.
The money I do receive came from me anyway. They took it out of my check every week I worked. Nobody else paid into my account but me. The benefits are taxpayer monies as I am the only taxpayer involved. AND when I finally got approved I had to forfeit the first six months of benefits, as does everyone who is approved. I asked why, where did that money go to or to whom, and never got a reasonable answer, It's just the way it is. I could appeal they said but I would lose.
So there it is. Some people think it is free money that the govt just gives away freely. It is not. They don't want to give it out at all. The pols in DC have no problem with dipping their hands into it and stealing it from the people who actually pay into it. But Lord forbid if you ever need your money back to survive. Nobody cares.
lol at 1:28, you never said how old you are how many years you worked and what you did for work, what your disability is, how you came by it. although you are married and pay rent, can afford the internet and a computer so you never really appear to have made any progress financially during your life so far. and you want us to believe that you are not sucking off the rest of us!

You can laugh if you want to. As far as your invasive questions go, none of it makes any difference. I'm pretty sure I worked more years than you have been alive, judging by your immature comments. I gave a real case scenario. I couldn't care less if you believe it. You don't know what you are talking about anyway.
