Incident: WCSO Warrant Arrests

Date of Incident: 20 July 2015

1.     On 20 July 2015 a deputy arrested Jay Alan Scott, 40 of Mardela Springs, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Scott failed to appear for a felony theft case. Scott was detained without bond in the Detention Center.

2.     On 20 July 2015 a deputy arrested Cody Paul Lank, 28 of Willards, MD, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Lank violated the terms of his probation in a burglary case. Lank was detained in lieu of $50,000.00 bond in the Detention Center.

3.     On 20 July 2015 a deputy arrested Jamal Carnel Drayton, 30 of Salisbury, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Drayton violated the terms of his probation in a DUI case by being arrested for DUI again. Drayton was detained in the Detention Center on a bond of $5,000.00.

 Incident: Theft

Date of Incident: 20 July 2015

Location: 200 block of Tilghman Road, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Bruce Lee Alexander, 26, Delmar, MD

Narrative: On 20 July 2015 a deputy arrested Bruce Alexander following an investigation into the theft of a customer’s checkbook from a vehicle left for service at a local garage. Investigation revealed that Alexander took the checkbook and used the checks to buy groceries at a Salisbury area store.

Upon arrest Alexander was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Alexander on Personal Recognizance.

Charges: Theft under $100.00 (4 counts)

Incident: Hit and Run Collision

Date of Incident: 20 July 2015

Location: Diamond Avenue, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Calvin Monroe Price, 64, Princess Anne, MD

Narrative: On 20 July 2015 a deputy investigated a hit and run collision where a parked car was struck on Diamond Avenue in Salisbury. Upon arrival the deputy discovered that a parked vehicle had been side swiped by another vehicle that did not stay at the scene. With the assistance of witnesses and evidence left behind, the deputy identified Calvin Price of Princess Anne as the operator of the offending vehicle.

Price was charged on traffic citations and was released pending a future court date.

Incident: Assault

Date of Incident: 21 July 2015

Location: 8000 block of Athol Road, Mardela Springs, MD

Suspect: John Woodrow Bell, 47. Mardela Springs, MD

Narrative: On 21 July 2015 a deputy responded to a residence in the 8000 block of Athol Road for a reported disturbance.  Upon arrival, the deputy met with a female subject who advised that she had become involved in an argument with a male cohabitant, John Bell that turned physical. During the investigation, the deputy observed signs of injury to the female that corroborated her account.

The deputy placed Bell under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Bell in the Detention Center in lieu of $15,000.00 bond.

Incident: Possession of Heroin

Date of Incident: 21 July 2015

Location: 600 block of South Salisbury Boulevard, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Michael Allen Jaquith, 18, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 21 July 2015 9:51 AM a deputy stopped a vehicle for a registration violation in the 600 block of South Salisbury Boulevard. Upon making contact with a passenger, Michael Jaquith, who was holding a book bag, the deputy developed suspicion that prompted a search of the back bag. During the search the deputy located a syringe that still held the remnants of heroin along with two spoons with heroin residue.

The deputy placed Jaquith under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Jaquith on Personal Recognizance.

Incident: WCSO Warrant Arrests

Date of Incident: 22/23 July 2015

1.    On 22 July 2015 a deputy arrested John Irving Ott Jr., 45 of Mardela Springs, MD, on a District Court Bench Warrant that was issued after Ott failed to appear for a theft case. Ott was detained on a bond of $1,000.00.

2.     On 22 July a deputy arrested Kecio Hunes Demelo, 27 of Salisbury, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Demelo failed to appear for an Assault 2nd Degree case. Demelo was detained without bond.

3.     On 23 July 2015 a deputy arrested Mary Cassandra Paulus, 33 of Salisbury, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Paulus violated the terms of her probation in a CDS Possession case. Paulus was detained on a bond of $10,000.00.

Incident: Driving Suspended / False Identity on a Traffic Stop

Date of Incident: 22 July 2015

Location: Rt. 50 at Stanton Avenue, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 22 July 2015 at 1:00 AM a deputy stopped a vehicle operated by Kanku Kabongo for travelling 80 mph on Rt. 50. During the encounter, the deputy had trouble verifying the identity of Kabongo.  During the encounter, Kabongo stated he did not have any identification and was evasive about his full name. The deputy had to spend over 40 minutes to verify Kabongo’s identity. Upon finally getting Kabongo to provide his full name, the deputy discovered that Kabongo’s privilege to drive a vehicle had been suspended by the State of Maryland. Post arrest, the deputy discovered an identification card with Kabongo’s true identity after he denied having one in his possession.

The deputy transported Kabongo to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Kabongo in the Detention Center in lieu of $5,000.00 bond.

Incident: Possession of Crack Cocaine

Date of Incident: 22 July 2015

Location: East Road, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 22 July 2015 a deputy arrested Patrick Sheppard after stopping Sheppard for a traffic violation and locating what would be identified as crack cocaine in Sheppard’s pants pocket. A smoking device with the remnant of crack cocaine was also located.

Upon arrest Sheppard was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Sheppard on $5,000.00 unsecured bond.

Incident: Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

Date of Incident: 23 July 2015

Location: Wicomico County, MD

Suspect: David M. Gunzburg, 44, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 23 July 2015 a deputy arrested David Gunzburg after he failed to report to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Officer to register as a Sex Offender. Due to a conviction in 2012 for Sexual Solicitation of a Minor, Gunzburg was required to check in with the Sheriff’s Office every six months.

Upon arrest, the deputy transported Gunzburg to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Gunzburg without bond pending a bond review in front of a judge.

Incident: Hinder and Obstruct / Wanted Subject

Date of Incident: 23 July 2015

Location: 500 block of Rose Street, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Dantwyne Lashawn Taylor, 31, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 23 July 2015 a deputy stopped a subject later identified as Dantwyne Taylor for a traffic violation on Rose Street. During the encounter the deputy suspected the veracity of the identity provided by Taylor. While standing on the sidewalk, the deputy began to inquire further as to the identity of Taylor at which point Taylor attempted to flee the area on foot. The deputy chased Taylor down after a brief foot chase and took him into custody.

After being arrested, the deputy discovered Taylor’s true identity and discovered that he was wanted on four outstanding warrants:
  1. Failure to Appear for a CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute case- Hold without bond
  2. Failure to Appear for a Driving Suspended case
  3. Failure to Appear for a Driving Without a License Case
  4. Parole Re-take warrant
Taylor was detained on a bond of $3,000.00 for providing a false identity and fleeing from the deputy.

Incident: WCSO Warrant Arrests

1.     On 24 July 2015 a deputy arrested Bruce Lee Alexander, 26 of Delmar, MD, as a fugitive from the State of Delaware. Authorities there wanted Alexander on a warrant issued after he failed to appear for a Forgery and Theft case. Alexander was detained without bond pending extradition back to Delaware.

2.     On 24 July 2015 a deputy arrested Michael Wayne Lewis, 26 of Salisbury, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Lewis violated the terms of his probation in a theft case. Lewis was released on unsecured bond.

3.     On 24 July 2015 a deputy arrested Robert Tyler Waltemeyer, 23 of Delmar, MD, as a fugitive from the State of Delaware. Authorities there wanted Waltemeyer on a warrant issued after he violated the terms of his probation in a CDS Possession case. Waltemeyer was detained without bond pending extradition back to Delaware.

4.     On 24 July 2015 a deputy arrested Shaquann Dynell Jones, 21 of Salisbury, MD, as a fugitive from the State of Delaware. Authorities there wanted Jones on a warrant issued after he failed to appear for a Possession of Stolen Property case. Jones was detained without bond pending extradition back to Delaware.

Incident: Theft

Date of Incident: 24 July 2015

Location: 1000 block of Ellegood Street. Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Richard Keith Johnson, 55, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 24 July 2015 a deputy arrested Richard Johnson following a report that he violated a protective order and entered a residence that he had been barred from. In this incident, the deputy met with a woman who stated that she had taken a protective order out against Johnson that ordered him to vacate their shared residence.  According to the complainant, Johnson entered the residence while she was asleep, woke her up and told her she had 24 hours to drop the protective order. Johnson then left the residence after allegedly taking her car keys and cell phone. Johnson then reportedly drove away in the complainant’s vehicle without permission.

Upon arrest, the deputy transported Johnson to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Johnson in the Detention Center in lieu of $5,000.00 bond.

Incident: WCSO Warrant Arrests

1.     On 25 July 2015 a deputy arrested Walter Rayquan Whitehead, 20 of Salisbury, MD, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Whitehead violated the terms of his probation in a theft case. Whitehead was detained on a bond of $25,000.00

2.     On 25 July 2015 a deputy arrested Walter Hunter Wharton III, 35 of Salisbury, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Wharton violated the terms of his probation in an Armed Robbery case. Wharton was detained on a bond of $25,000.00.

3.     On 25 July 2015 a deputy arrested Brian Lemanns Terry, 51 of Salisbury, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Terry violated the terms of his probation in an Assault 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment case. Terry was detained on a bond of $50,000.00.

4.     On 25 July 2015 a deputy arrested Mark Lawrence Baker, 31 of Salisbury, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Baker violated the terms of his probation in an Armed Robbery case. Baker was detained on a bond of $100,000.00.

5.     On 25 July 2015 a deputy arrested James Bryan Burke, 29 of Salisbury, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Burke absconded from a treatment facility following a conviction in a Robbery case. Burke was detained without bond.

Incident: Violation of a Protective Order

Date of Incident: 26 July 2015

Location: 800 block of W. Isabella Street, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: David Bradley Pruitt, 60, Easton, MD

Narrative: On 26 July 2015 at 3:00 AM a deputy stopped a vehicle on West Isabella Street operated by David Pruitt. During the stop, the deputy discovered that Pruitt was wanted on an arrest warrant by the Easton Police for violation of a Protective Order.

The deputy took Pruitt into custody and transported him to the Central booking Unit where he was processed on the warrant and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Pruitt in the Detention Center in lieu of $3,000.00 bond pending transfer to the Talbot County Detention Center.

Suspect: Florencio Orozco-Coyoy, 39, Delmar, MD

Narrative: On 26 July 2015 at 10:36 PM a deputy responded to a residence in the 8000 block of Bi-State Blvd. in Delmar for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival the deputy met with a female subject who stated she had been assaulted at the hands of Florencio Orozco, whom she resides with.

The deputy placed Orozco under arrest for the assault and transported him to the Central Booking Unit. An initial appearance is still pending for Orozco.

Incident: DUI

Date of Incident: 27 July 2015

Location: Salisbury Blvd. at Dogwood Drive, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Lauren M. Powell, 27, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 27 July 2015 at 2:45 AM a deputy stopped a vehicle operated by Lauren Powell for driving erratically on Salisbury Boulevard. Upon making contact with Powell the deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. The odor along with other physical indicators prompted the deputy to begin sobriety testing. At the conclusion of the testing the deputy placed Powell under arrest for DUI.

During subsequent processing, Powell provided a breath sample that measured .19.

Powell was released upon the issuance of citations.
