WASHINGTON (ABC News) -- Target is facing some backlash for selling a T-shirt labeled "TROPHY" in the women’s departments of its stores and online.
Shoppers have been taking to Twitter to slam the American retail giant for the merchandise, calling it offensive and demoralizing.
"It is never our intention to offend anyone and we always appreciate receiving feedback from our guests," Target released in a statement to ABC News. "The shirt you’re describing is part of a collection of engagement and wedding shirts that are available in our women’s and plus size departments. The collection also included shirts that say “Team Bride,” “Mrs.” and “Bride.” These shirts are intended as a fun wink and we have received an overwhelmingly positive response from our guests."

I am female and I do not see anything wrong with this. As many graphic shirts that kids wear these days people should be worrying about other things besides a shirt that says trophy. People have too much time on their hands... If you are confident in yourself than rock that shirt and be proud!
They are offended because the trophy shirt only comes in XS, S and M.
Go to OC and you can get one that says SLUT on the front.
I'm a women and I know I'm a trophy wife.
My favorite
Some woman may not be a bride so they just get a participation trophy.
Everything offends me, so give me money for that!
Exactly my point! People are not "offended" by those shirts but one that says trophy. Wow...
If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's really that simple!
10:08 pm, you go girl!!!!!!!
Woman = an adult female human.
Women = more than one adult female human.
I don't understand all of the fake outrage. We live in a county with freedom of speech and freedom of expression, but the moment a singe person is offended, then there is outrage. The problem is, in this day and age everything seems to offend at least one person. If there wasn't such fake outrage then most of us wouldn't even be aware of this shirt. I thought the whole point of our free market was for stores like Target to offer shirts like this (which are clearly innocent and fun) to the public as different people have different tastes. If then consumers reject that item, then they just don't make that purchase. Items with zero demand are taken off the shelves and never heard of again. It's simple; if you don't like it, then don't purchase it. People need to get over themselves and their fake outrage.
If you really are a trophy, you wouldn't be clothes shopping at target.
i think that's hilarious
One man's trophy could be another's booby prize.
I think Target's retort is exactly right. I read it to say, "Screw you".
They are mad because the didn't carry it in a 4x size. Worries about a T shirt but will vote for Hillary. AMAZING.
