Should the Freddie Gray Trial Be Moved Out Of Baltimore?

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—The trial of the officers charged in connection with the death of Freddie Gray is likely to be the biggest Baltimore has ever seen and there are concerns over whether they can get a fair one.

WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren has the latest.

So how will the high-profile nature of the case impact the trial?

“It’s going to be very hard to find someone who was not impacted by Freddie Gray’s death,” said Rob Waldeck, legal analyst.

Rob Waldeck has represented numerous police officers and he believes the critical factor now is whether the defendants can get the trial moved out of Baltimore.

Yes. The chance can not be taken that jury intimidation may play a role in the jury's decision.

Move it to Salisbury - I'll vote to acquit!

They should never have been charged.

They are going to have riots no matter how this goes.

They should never have been arrested. The mayor and the States Attorney need to be arrested.

I bet they didn't realize 3 of the cops were black.

Those cases will be separated and sent to various counties so that a fair trial can be given to the defendants. I doubt we will see one here on the shore, but perhaps in Talbot maybe.

Damn. A hung jury sucks. Fry them. They were ordered to saturate the area and violate rights if needed. Told to check everyone and clean the area. Sounds good but its wrong. These cops could've stood and said no way. They have Rights. It does happen. We just saw a cop on the tube standing for a persons rights and putting his partners in check. .... But they didn't. They went out there with there nazi america,, I'm a cop and can do what I want attitude. This makes them guilty of what ever happens stemmimg from this. And that is the death of a kid. Regardless if he did it himself in the van or was beaten. It would never have happened if they did not mess with him wrongfully in the first place. It's time police are held accountable for their actions. And more should be charged. The frieking Mayor gave the order to do this. Fry her ass for that as well.

I'd rather see them tried together, so the relative impact of the actions of each person can be weighed against the events leading up to his death. If they are tried separately, chances are some will get a judge who wants to make an example out of that individual, especially if he is white. They are going to chimp out either way, whether they are found guilty or not.

"Those cases will be separated"

Do you think so 2:54? Why? The state has requested that there are 2 separate trials. Can't remember the exact makeup but each trial would have one of the lesser charged arresting officers as a defendant.
The defense came back with if there are 2 trials then it should be the 2 lesser charged arresting officers together and the other four together. Other than this the defense has given no indication that they are interested in separate trials.

The jury pool has already been tampered with and tainted by the so-called State Attorney Mosby.

I believe these officers can't and won't get a fair trial in Baltimore or in any outlying area of Baltimore. The trial needs to be moved somewhere else within MD.

I don't see any benefit in separate trials. They were charged collectively, put in jail collectively, then they should be tried collectively.

They deserve a FAIR and UN-BIAS trial. I also believe that Mosby should be required to step down from office because of her part in what lead up to the riots. Why hasn't the DOJ investigated both her and the mayor???? Seems like the DOJ is pro black and anti white, that is how it is coming down.

It's getting hard to keep track. Is Freddie Gray the "gentle giant" or is he the one with the Skittles? There are so many of these idiots around lately looking for restitution, it's hard to remember who did what.

Fry them for what? What did they do?

Anonymous said...

Doubt it.

It doesn't work like that.

He's the one with brain damage from childhood lead exposure (eating lead paint chips in an old run down house) that ran from the cops, carrying a knife.

He is the one that was arrested half a dozen times for selling crack.

Do you even bother to read the bs you type? Each one you named is dead. So no, they are not walking around. Most people I know can tell you which one is which, which one got killed by who, and they may even remember each state it happened in.

Talk about idiots walking around. I bet you even stumble every third step. You know, there are plenty of stupid people in the world. And then there is you, who is so proud of being stupid you put it on display for all the world to see.

Go sit on the couch and stfu.

It's unusual for the state to fight a change of venue.
The Affirmative Action boob from the family of criminal police officers knows she doesn't stand a chance of getting any convictions anywhere other than Baltimore City.

5:27 it's called proactive policing. Now that the proactive policing has stopped in Baltimore look at the result. Moron!

Mosby panders to those in the moron, imbecile, idiot IQ range. Just like herself.
These are the same people who want the guns off the streets but when the cops attempt to get the illegal weapons off the streets the idiots cry racism, harassment and profiling.
There seriously is no hope for the idiots so the cops are doing what they should have been doing all along and hopefully more will be dead before they can multiply.

No, it's called NOT doing your job. It was a political stunt to try to make the mayor look bad. And it cost the commissioner his job. If these kops had followed their own protocol most of all this would have been avoided.

The fault lies with the mayor and the state attorney who won't allow the cops to do their jobs.
