I am looking for any " artists " that have tried to get into Rivers Edge Apartments and Studio for the Arts. Please let me know your experience and did you get in. Thank you

I assume you didn't? I'm sure that title of "artist" is just another form of entitlement?

9:50 well that was rude.
Try calling United Needs & Abilities. Although their clients are not "artists" they have a lock-in on some of the apartment/properties.

It's a joke and why would you want to live there?

artist is all smoke and mirrors thanks sjd

So when this goes broke, guess which SBY millionaire will buy it up for pennies? Again, you're ALL morons!

It's a front . It dosent exist. Seriously. Artists in Salisbury? Even art galleries! No body will see them and if they do it'll be once and never again.

If you don't wave a rainbow flag, you'e not considered an artist in Salisbury.

Apparently, a student got in saying he was a "rapper". And, he's not!

My friend's mom lives there...got in about 4 months after she was supposed to. Haven't heard if they are nice, etc.

Wow! Many of these comments are truly moronic! Stay classy Salisbury!

Friend just applied...needs minimum income of $11,000. Seems to be they are now entertaining low income persons....she is not an artist nor gay. Has the "artist" plan changed to low income? Was that the plan all along?

"Artist" was a cover, I'm sure. While it sounds nice to give away city money so struggling artists can live in a waterfront building, it was really a gift of your tax money and then banking on the cash flow from Section 8 waivers.

This was a disaster project from the beginning. Nobody wanted to pay premium prices to live across the street from the ghetto. The ghetto is in symbiosis with the Perdue chicken plant. While the plant is old, the turnover was low because the neighborhood worked there.

Until the Perdue plant shuts down, that area of town will always be ghetto because it suppresses property values (or potential values). I don't fault Perdue for having a plant on their own property...it's their land and they can do what they want with it. But nobody's going to pay a premium to live next to a stinky chicken plant. Just one of those truths in life.

When I learned that the apartment complex was going to be another section 8 facility I questioned the fact that Pemberton Manor, the other section 8 housing neighborhood down the road was a major crime problem and would this not be just adding fuel to the flame. Several city meetings later it was renamed an "arts community" and I could not believe my ears. There will be a honeymoon period before the gates, high fencing and security guards will have to be added. Just more lipstick on a pig.

A "rapper" is an "artist" the way a janitor is an architect.

okay, okay now I'm offended. Are you saying our wonderful, intelligent, well versed, in-depth study of said subject city council has lied to all the voters yet again? Say it ain't so, not again and the president wanna be mayor endorsed this lie on all of us??????

I thought of rolling through town photographing the at least 5 closed, shuttered "Art Venues" (Maybe more) to post on here, but decided to do the laundry instead. I think we all knew Fake Day was blowing something up our collective arses back then, and now Perdue's chickens are coming home to roost.

Although,I'm sure a lot of the prospective tenants view dodging employment, soaking the "system"and selling drugs incognito on the side a true art form.

I was thinking the same thing. Most are on the same level of the people they complain about.
