Maryland is losing one of its two major television productions.
The Los Angeles Times reports the HBO comedy Veep will move its production to Southern California to take advantage of expanded tax credits.
The newspaper quotes the California Film Commission.
Veep has filmed four seasons in Maryland, both in Baltimore and in Howard County.
The newspaper reports HBO's American Horror Story will relocate to California from Louisiana. as will VH1's Hindsight which had been shot in Atlanta, and the ABC series Secrets and Lies which had been shot in North Carolina.

Imagine that Baltimore IDIOTS show their true colors and act like animals, and you don't expect to lose anything? Prepare yourself Baltimore I have a feeling this is only the beginning for that Charming Bodymore!!!!!
Goodbye liberal tax drain.
So be it.
California has had the tax incentives in place for the movie industry for a long time. Maryland can't afford to keep handing out tax credits to businesses, while the middle class pay for it.
Sure, we need business to stay in Maryland, but competitively bidding for their presence out of the taxpayer's pocket has gotten out of hand. Look at the "incentives" and tax credits some of our local companies have been the beneficiary of, then packed up and left to harvest the next bunch of carrots offered by another state.
I'd like to see all tax rebates, property tax waivers, grants and other incentives prohibited entirely, in every state. Let the cities and states compete for revenue generating business on the basis of their infrastructure, skilled labor force, low crime rate, and streamlined, efficient local bureaucracy.
These incentives are what make a community a good place to live, as well as a good place to do business.
aw, and the Town of OC and Worcester County only lost, what $60K in taxpayer dollars on their movie investments......
