EMERGENCY PIPE WORK BEGINS JUNE 8 ON US 13 BUSINESS IN POCOMOKE CITY

Repairs Require Daytime Closure of Market Street between 5th and 6th Streets

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will repair a drain pipe under US 13 Business (Market Street) in Pocomoke City beginning Monday, June 8. SHA will complete the emergency repairs by Friday, June 12, weather permitting. Work includes excavation and replacement of old terra cotta (clay) drain pipe with corrugated plastic pipe.

To ensure the safety of motorists and workers, SHA will close Market Street to vehicle traffic between Fifth and Sixth streets from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Detour signs will be posted during the closure hours. Crews will restore vehicle access after 7 p.m. each day. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

SHA is asking residents of Market Street between Fifth and Sixth streets to make alternate parking arrangements during construction hours.

An average of 3,700 vehicles travel this section of US 13 Business each day. Brawner Builders of Hunt Valley is the contractor for these repairs, which are expected to cost $80,000.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to keep traffic safely moving in work zones, please partner with us because work zone safety is everyone’s business – slow down and stay alert. Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone.
