DALLAS (AP) — A Texas man who bid $350,000 to hunt a black rhinoceros in Africa in what was billed as a conservation fundraiser has killed one of the endangered animals, a Dallas Safari Club official said Thursday.
Corey Knowlton of Dallas shot a black rhino this week in Namibia, according to Ben Carter, executive director of the Dallas Safari Club. Knowlton was the top bidder in the club’s January 2014 auction.
The funds go to the Namibia Ministry of Environment and Tourism, which issued the permit as part of efforts to cull the herd, Carter said.

Well that's the most f'ed up thing I've heard in a while............
Maybe I'm just not getting it. Shot an endangered animal to raise money / awareness for endangered animals????
Sometimes (more often than not) I think we are the real "animals".
I'm all about hunting and grubbing on nature's goodies. I'm just confused as to what kind of "sport" one gets out of picking off a huge animal that makes for a fairly easy target once located? Doofus award goes to this dude
I hunt year round, and enjoy feeding my family with fresh, TRUE organic, game. I just don't get trophy hunters obsession. But, the country released the tag out to bid, so I can't fault the guy for going after his dream.
Often times the animal selected for a hunt like this is an older male, past breeding age, that is disrupting the other males from breeding. So by paying this price tag they get the troublesome male removed and get money that can be used to fund more protection of the species. Look it up.
What about the killing off of the endangered white working man?
A real idiot, a jerk, and he is so much more than an as@hole. I wish the animals would raffle him off.
