Alabama Lawmaker Would Make Docs Rat Out Pregnant Women Suspected of Using Drugs--Without Any Proof

Who could have guessed he would be a Republican?

State Representative Mack Butler (R-AL) introduced legislation this week requiring medical professionals to notify police within two hours if they suspect a pregnant woman of having consumed illegal substances — regardless of whether she tests positive for drugs or not, AL.com reports.

During a hearing about the bill on Wednesday, the Times Daily reports, Butler “said that women who give birth to babies exposed to illegal drugs are often hard to track down when drug tests come back positive and they’ve already left the hospital.”

“Crackheads don’t have permanent addresses,” Butler further explained to members of the Alabama’s House Health Committee as the legislative body considered the merits of formally titled H.B. 408.

Another misogynistic, misinformed, meddling old man who can't stand the thought of women running around unsupervised.

How arrogant to propose a bill, especially one so blatantly contemptuous of our constitutional rights, without doing at least sophomore level research first, even basic fact finding. I hope his ass gets booted right straight out of office, come next election.

In order to know that a person is using any substance, there must be tests indicating same and thus you have proof. In my past career, I saw to many children born with massive physical and psychological problems due to their mother using harmful substances prior to birth. It is imperative to protect the children and the mothers who put the children at risk by their using should be locked up in order to ensure the children are born without complications from their mother using harmful substances. It's a form of child abuse and endangerment that can be corrected in time!

So mandatorily test every pregnant woman for any possible teratogen she may be knowingly (or unknowingly) be exposing her fetus to?

And LOCK HER UP in a jail. Yeah, that'll protect that fetus, alright.

The fetus has a better chance in jail than being exposed daily to harmful substances. After birth, give the child up for adoption and sterilize the mother!!

No harmful substances in jails, no stress, no risk of violence, exercise and good nutrition, plenty of quiet rest and relaxation, support from the father and family, good medical care.

Got it.

Study have shown that drug "addiction" plummets when the individuals have activities that keep their minds entertained.

The old rats in a cage doing cocaine until they die is a terrible study and should not be quoted anymore. If I stuck any one of you in a room indefinitely with nothing but water and all the cocaine you could consume, guess what the likely outcome is for a massive number of people.

Teach her to knit or god forbid get her a job.
