BALTIMORE —Maryland's governor spoke for the first time on the police custody death of Freddie Gray.
Gov. Larry Hogan is very interested in the case and is prepared to launch state resources if needed.
The city police in-custody death of Gray will be thoroughly examined by a multitude of agencies, including the Baltimore City Police Department, the city state's attorney's office and the U.S. Department of Justice.
"It's a tragic situation. My heart goes out to the family and everyone involved in the entire incident, and like everyone else, we are hoping to get to the bottom of it and find out the facts," Hogan said.

I think Gray's death was self inflicted. He either had a pre existing neck injury that he exacerbated when he was "thrashing around" (as per another prisoner in the van) or he banged himself so hard he broke his own neck.
Or could have been something like a seizure disorder and in the course of having a seizure he struck his chin, breaking his neck.
It's odd that the Baltimore City mayor has requested a meeting w/the Gray family but they declined on the advice of their attorney, Billy Murphy. What is it he doesn't want let out of the bag just yet-maybe a pre existing condition.
It's also odd that Murphy isn't one bit focused on how the injury was sustained. His sole focus is on why they officers chased Gray to begin with.
He is also planning on having an independent autopsy done. That is understandable.
I think it's getting obvious that he did do this to himself. Everyone's seen the tape where he is standing on his own with no help in the back of the van, he turns his head and says something, then bends down and enters the van all without any assistance.
The other prisoner said he was throwing himself up against the metal cage and that the driver was NOT driving erratically. It could be possible he was completely strung out of some drug or that he had anger issues.
Both the family lawyer and the mayor aren't so concerned with HOW he got injured but more why he was chased and why medical help wasn't called sooner. I think they probably know his own actions caused his injuries already.

That man was crippled from the time they picked him up and dragged him to the van. They then loaded him into the van and can you just imagine the pain he must have been in while they were doing so!
I've watched that video several times and that man was injured BEFORE they ever picked him up off the ground.

Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has openly indicated that the injuries to Gray probably occurred after he was placed in the police van for transport to the police station."
It's also being reported that family attorney Billy Murphy is making a case against the autopsy report by saying "they" as in the BCPD worked closely with the medical examiners office (as in so they get the results they want?)

LOL-I just randomly googled cops make arrest and then randomly chose some videos to watch. If you didn't know any better you would have thought more than 1/2 were injured because they too dragging their feet the way Freddie was.

They all act like that when they are arrested in Baltimore. I've even saw something like it in Sby once. It was a woman. She was also screaming while being dragged that she needed an ambulance because she was pregnant, so she said.

If you read the statement made by the Gray family attorney on Sunday, he says the whole take down and arrest occurred under a police camera which taped "EVERYTHING". He never once mentioned any kind of "excessive force" being used and does go on to say- " While in police custody, his spine was 80 percent severed at his neck." He does not say that it happened while being arrested which he would have it any evidence of police brutality existed, but that it happened while in custody.
The cops seem to keep getting out of Control more often now...
If the Police are guilty...they should be fired, jailed, and sued,
but not the TAX PAYERS footing the bill...

As said above and I've seen it myself people resist arrest all the time and go limp like this guy did.
His family including his sister who were interviewed by The Guardian are saying whatever happened to him, happened inside the van.

Gray’s family alleges he must have been badly beaten during this time.

All you medical experts need to tell the family how "severeley injured" he was while he was being lead to the van because they obviously don't think he was injured at that point in time.

I'm not exactly sure what is going on in Baltimore City right now or what is expected to maybe happen but they are sending city workers home early on liberal leave I just heard.
Right. I saw a few interviews either friends or family, I'm not sure, and they all pretty much said he was not injured, but was dragging his legs because he was being uncooperative or something like that. They excused it by saying, it's because when you are black you have been yourself or know of someone who was a victim of police brutality while in police custody, so that's why they resist.
Lots of these kind of comments on the Baltimore area social media sites saying the same thing about why he resisted being taken over to the van.

There is a rally today at City Hall at 3pm. There is also another one at 5pm at another location. They are probably just trying to get them out of the city before the rally starts.
They've been "protesting" all day out in front of the western district. Their "protesting" including throwing things and blocking traffic. Governor Larry Hogan has sent in the MSP and city workers are being urged to leave work by 3:00.
They should be as passionate about finding jobs as they are about rallying.

They don't bother video it let alone post it, when a cop is helping them, or the countless times an encounter goes peacefully, that is why it seems like it's more prevalent.
