they were going to convert ECI power plant to burn manure but MD EPA refused to for concerns such as air quality and expense would not be cost effective. This was around 2000.
So they went to legislators to seek tens of millions for the project?
Proof positive that it's not a profitable venture! How stupid do they think we are?
This is nothing but another windmill fiasco! They already operate one facility like this. If that facility were profitable, venture capitalists would be all over this.
Sounds like using a lagoon to put waste in, methane is formed then burned. Project usually fails when the methane gas is so corrosive it eats up what you burn it in. The phosphorous is left in the solids no matter what. The plant folds and your left with a big lagoon full of chicken shit.
Poultry manure? Its gonna get a lot of side streams. This facility would be feed all the DAF sludges currently being hauled out of state. Hatchery wastes and rendering waste will also be shoved in it till it pukes. You will have a collection of sludge when the residual solids cannot be sold to make a buck. Like New Earth Services on Dorchester County land a few years back. Started out green business with grants and political PR. Years later piles of "fertilizer" awaiting a nonexistent buyer . I will watch this one.
9:26 Might be doing it in Europe, I can tell you the US poultry industry will tries to run everything at 110% capacity 8 days a week 366 days per year.

Just say no.
What on earth does this have to do with turbines! Get a grip!

Cannot believe Perdue fell for this after falling for the litter pellet plant. You do not make money from crap.
They've been doing this in Europe for years
