A Letter To The Editor: Royal Farms

Good morning Joe,

Just a short note about my visit to the Royal Farms Store on Rt.12 near Johnson Rd.. Last night about 3am I stopped to get a cup of coffee and a couple of donuts.

I went to the coffee machine and no coffee. A worker came and told me there would be no coffee until later in the morning as they didn’t sell enough late night to make it worthwhile. I gave her back the donuts and told her that I didn’t know that Royal Farms was in such bad shape that they had to ration their coffee. Went to WAWA and purchased my coffee and donuts, no problem. Joe I believe that if in fact what the person told me is true that it is a mistake on Royal Farms part. Joe I work overnight and there are many who do. Most people would not realize just how many of us do work at night. This is the first time I wasn’t able to get any coffee there that time of night and as I said there are more of us than people know who do work then. People are creatures of habit! I went to Wawa and got my coffee and donuts. I will continue to do so as it is just a little further. Maybe Royal Farms doesn’t want late night customers but they may lose customers to their competition!

UPDATE: Joe, Royal Farms Corporate says that this coffee thing is Not their policy! Looks like just a lazy employee.

Lazy employees would be the correct answer. Seems to happen quite a bit these days.

Time for that lazy X employee stay at home and work on that tan for the summer.

A local policy set by the store manager?

I stopped going to Royal farms after seeing the sick porn magazines on display. Mothers don't take your children in there because the porn is right there in the open.

Just be glad you were not robbed in the parking lot atthat time of morning there

Let Royal Farms know exactly what time you were there, what date, and what the employee said and looked like. This employee needs to be fired.

If you stop at these convenience stores all the time for coffee and donuts, you are wasting a lot of money. Buy a box of donuts at the grocery store and brew your own coffee to take with you. It's also safer than being out on these city streets at 3 a.m. looking for coffee and donuts.

12:14, WHY do these convenience stores stay open all night then? You'd think they'd at least have coffee available in the middle of the night to help keep customers awake.

That being said, perhaps they stopped brewing coffee because too many police officers were there in the middle of the night getting free coffee?

Why were you out at 3 a.m.? Only thugs are out that late! Or are you a cop? Coffee and doughnuts! Quit complaining officer! Not everyone is going to cater to you.

12:17, It was NOT and officer. It is a friend of mine who runs a business at night.

Doesn't matter who it was or what they were doing out at that hour...unless of course they were there to rob the place. The point is, if you advertise 24hr service then you need to provide service 24 hours. Not just when it suits you.
I doubt this is a corporate rule. Sounds like someone just couldn't be bothered.

1 or 2 cups of coffee sold pays for the entire giant batch. They were just too lazy to realize they could keep 1 container of each type of coffee going instead of the 2-3 typically available at a time.

You shouldn't be eating donuts anyway. They are not healthy for you to be eating.

I wrote the post and contacted Royal Farms Corporate. They advised this is not corporate policy and they know who the worker is. Was advised that coffee is served all night. Not everyone out at the wee hours of the night are crooks and thugs, we are hard working people trying to make a living. Most of us are very aware of our surroundings. We know it is not a safe envirment.

The good late night and middle of the day store clerks will see when someone is getting the dregs out of a coffee urn that that's been sitting for hours, and will stop the customer and ask if they would like to wait a couple of minutes while they brew up a fresh pot of coffee. This has happened to me on a number of occasions both late at night / early morning hours, and in the middle of the day when not much coffee is being sold. That particular clerk was just a poor, perhaps lazy, clerk.

WaWa has better coffee and more choices. First mistake was going to the Royal Farms, any Royal Farms, as a first choice for coffee and donuts.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I have been there in the middle of the day and found that several of their coffee dispensers were empty.

They just don't bother refilling them.

What scares me is that if they are that lazy to make the coffee then chances are they are to lazy to clean the dispensers as well.

Are you an idiot??? You do realize mire than just cops work nights??? He could've been from SU and on his break....closed minded jerk!

Their coffee pots have a light sensor that blinks every 2 hours to ensure fresh pots I. Coffee. If anyone has been to royal farms and the pots were empty it's because of an employee who is not following royal farms policy and as far as doughnuts they are Krispy Kreme which if I'm correct wawa has the same. So there u have it kno

Troll? Idiot? Both? Lots of people work late hours/night shift hours. In many businesses, it's when the real work is done. Not all of the world has Mon.-Fri. 9-5 employment; but I'm guessing you don't get out much. As Bugs Bunny was fond of saying "what a maroon!".

May not be the corporate policy but corporate is responsible for the employees. Love Royal Farms and looking forward to the opening of the Pemberton location.

I was in the Royal Farms Store on #50 this week trying to buy my favorite soft drink from the dispenser. That particular one was empty. All I did was to tell one of the employees & immediately they filled it. Soooo, not all Royal Farm Employees are lazy.....in fact, most are very helpful!

I would encourage people to contact the particular location (be it whatever kind of business) and let management know if there is ever a problem. Give the company a chance to fix the issue before posting negative comments. I know that is not Royal Farms policy and I know the woman that runs that location. Believe me, that employee will be handled accordingly.
