BY AUTHORITY OF WICOMICO COUNTY COUNCIL PRESIDENT, JOHN T. CANNON, THE 2/17/15 LEGISLATIVE SESSION OF THE WICOMICO COUNTY COUNCIL HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO IMPENDING SEVERE WINTER WEATHER. THE PUBLIC HEARING AND WORK SESSION ON THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE’S CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS BUDGET AND PROGRAM WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR THE MEETING MARCH 3, 2015, AT 6:00 PM. IN ADDITION, THE NEW DATE FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE READVERTISED. EFFORTS ARE BEING MADE TO ADDRESS THE BALANCE OF THE AGENDA FOR THE 2/17 LEGISLATIVE MEETING AS SOON AS PRACITICAL, POSSIBLY ON EITHER THURSDAY, OR FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK, AT 10 A.M. THE MEETING WILL BE POSTED ON THE COUNTY’S WEBSITE AND MAJOR MEDIA OUTLETS WILL BE NOTIFIED, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
BECAUSE OF EXPECTED BROAD COMMUNITY INTEREST IN THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PUBLIC HEARING, IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED INAPPROPRIATE TO HAVE THE PUBLIC HEARING AT A TIME WHEN HEAVY SNOW AND DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED, LIKELY PREVENTING MANY INTERESTED PERSONS FROM ATTENDING THE MEETING. ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS CHANGE MAY CAUSE IS REGRETTABLE, BUT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST.

Heats been turned down for the long weekend in all the BOE & Schools with the weather being what it is leave it down until at least tomorrow evening and save a ton of money for taxpayers. That sounds like common sense and one would think it would happen anyway, but I for one am not so sure about that!
common sense. don't you just love it???
Yikes, we only got a few inches of snow -- WTF.
Can you imagine what it would be like if that Council were in New England -- government cancelled for the winter!
