Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release

On December 16, 2014 at approximately 0156 hours Worcester County Deputies responded to a residence in Newark, Maryland for a domestic assault.

During the investigation Deputies found the suspect, Ali Sufyan, 22 years of age, from Newark Md., had allegedly assaulted his wife and juvenile daughter. Based on the investigation Mr. Sufyan was arrested and charged with the following: Child Abuse 2nd, Assault 2nd Degree 2-counts, and Reckless Endangerment 2-counts.

Mr. Sufyan was taken before a District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance. Mr. Sufyan was held on a temporary committal with no bond until a lawyer could be found to represent him.

On Monday December 22, 2014 at approximately 2044 hours a Worcester County Sheriff Deputy arrested 25 year old Oliverio Cruz-Jose at his residence on Robin Drive in Ocean City, Maryland. Mr. Cruz-Jose was wanted on a District Court Bench Warrant for failing to appear for a court case on September 25, 2014. Cruz-Jose’s was scheduled to appear for court on September 25th to answer to a traffic charge for driving a motor vehicle without a license. Mr. Cruz-Jose was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. Mr. Cruz-Jose was later taken to the Worcester County Jail and held on a $ 3,000 Bond.

In the Sufyan case they're going to have bring in a Sharia Law Specialist for him to have a fair trial.
